The man was sitting in the living room of his house, looking extremely worn out. Beautiful memories from the past flashed through his mind, and he shook his head quickly to dispel those pleasant thoughts. He needed to get rid of these beautiful memories. He tried not to think; everything was now reduced to mere memories and belonged to the past. He should focus on the present and not change his decision. Despite previous failures numerous times, this time his decision was final; he would end everything today. He avoided contemplating why he had failed before, as thinking about it would fill his mind with memories, dragging him back into the abyss. Escaping this abyss was more painful than living. He glanced at the gun on the table; he wondered where his mind had been all this time. Granted, the last five years were not really living; his mind was only beginning to recover since he stopped taking his medication, at least to the point where he could think. He didn't want to think anymore; he just wanted to finish it. He believed no force could turn him away from this decision. He picked up the gun and quickly placed it against his head. He had thought about his final words beforehand; as soon as he spoke them, he would pull the trigger. The words that came out of his mouth were:

"You won't be..." His words were abruptly cut off by the loud ringing of the phone. No, it wasn't the right time now. He hadn't been in contact with almost anyone for so long, and he hesitated to answer the phone without knowing who it was. What if answering it brought back memories and changed his decision? He pondered. What difference did it make? He had made his decision anyway. No power could turn him away from it. Okay, after answering the phone, I'll finish what I started, he thought, reluctantly answering the phone.

"Hello?" After listening to the person on the other end for 20 seconds, the man suddenly jumped to his feet. Whatever the person on the phone said, he had changed his mind with a sudden change of heart. This could be the opportunity of his life. He thought about whether opening up to the caller would flood his mind with memories and change his decision. What did it matter? He had made his decision in any case. No power could change his mind. Okay, I'll finish what I started after answering the phone, he said uncomfortably, answering the phone.

"I'm coming right away," he said and rushed out of the house. Perhaps, he had just made a new decision that would change his entire life.
