It was midnight on the 25th of December when Jones was starting to feel sleepy. "Tired?" Sam asked as they all laid in bed watching Navity 1. A yawn was his response as I dozed off to sleep snuggled into him.
Dad had managed to book Christmas Eve, Christmas Day as well as news years day off, mum had Christmas Day, Boxing Day and news years eve off.
The other days I'd be with my uncle. Would i? Nah. I'd be at the station. We all knew that's the correct answer.
Soon Sam to fell asleep.
It was soon 6am when he felt a gentle shake. "Yeah?" He mumbled sleepily as he knew his daughter was the only one to shake him awake if she needed him. It was the only habit she hadn't outgrown since Penny had been living with them as her mum and his wife
"Dadda Christmas, mummies awake already" she smiled as he opened his eyes and chuckled softly
"What's funny?" I asked confused
"Your mum has always been an early riser what you doing up so early?" He said as he picked me up
"Wind" I mumbled "and I wanted warmth once I was out of my bed and instead of helping my cook veg I came to you"
Sam laughed as he saw me yawned and said "I'll make you a coffee come on"
"Coffee? Makes me sick remember" I yawned
"Hot chocolate?" He asked
I nodded as I leaned into him as he gently rocked me side to side as he stood up. He put me down to go loo and once we was downstairs he held me again.
"Yeah she's definitely your child Sam" Penny laughed
"She's yours to" Sam chuckled softly
"I know but someone was working Christmas Eve and the day before and someone wasn't" Penny laughed "let's take a guess who was"
"Me" Sam said as he knew why his daughter was being clingy and he sat down and saw his daughter sat on his lap as presents were passed around
Mum opened hers and got a

And last but not least

Dad got:

• led lights
• paint
• screwdriver
Sam smiled as jones stayed near him the whole day even when dinner was served. "I wonder what jones fave gift is" Penny wondered as I ate my roast potatoes while trying to sneakily give my turkey to my dad without my mum seeing
Sam took the turkey off my plate as he rather not argue with me and was quite glad I was eating at least something and he could always make something later for dinner if she requested.
Yes his daughter was picky, but she was eleven and he was the exact same at eleven years.
"Jones?" Penny asked as she gave me some more roasr potatos and another yorkie
"What's up?" I asked
"What is your fave gift?" She asked
"My mum and my dad" she smiled as she sat on Sam's lap to say he was finished.
"Awh, your so cute Jones" they replied
