A Glimpse into the Help...If I may call them that...

December 31st

I have eaten the most scrumptious deviled eggs, sausage, bread, butter and the juice from my favorite, most desired apple. As you should know it has been freshly squeezed from human hands. A difficult task but one that is most necessary to those with wealth in abundance. Apple cider is a delicacy one may enjoy at all seasons. It, I would say was always my most requested beverage. Ever since I was a small boy. As of now I am truly a handsome young man, but I must help you to understand how I absolutely love this most delectable delight.

Now let me tell you how a typical day of mine goes. It may be quite different in every sense of the word in comparison to your own, but we are poles apart as you will soon see in stature. Firstly my butler as he does often, after I had finished eating takes a clean cotton cloth and wipes the excess food from my mouth. I am positioned near my gold encrusted window to survey the horse and buggies passing by further down the hill. If only they had additional coinage those others could acquire automobiles like what we have, not that we use them. Nevertheless, I guess they do not have the assets required to do so. It is rare for vehicles to be on these dusty roads as they are not affordable. Well not rare for us but rare for everyone else that lives down the hill from us. Or beyond that for that matter.

THOSE POOR, POOR SOULS

The butler I speak of is tall in figure and medium built. I often observe him clothed in a black suit with the white tuft cloth down the middle. I forget what such a thing is called but it suits him, making him look every inch the servant he is supposed to be in my presence. We have many servants that endure employment, and they all are under my disposal. Whenever I call upon them or ring a bell they come running to serve me. As they should, or they may experience a dreadful fear of having to work without pay. Some servants need that incentive or they will not work at their full potential. Rain or shine, sick or healthy they arrive at the mansion to please one such as I. Their most illustrious King. I would end it here as some would expect as it may seem that I talk too much about us to some. However, I shall let you know the importance of continuing as I should be near and dear to your hearts and so I must continue.

Today which is very typical for me is a day I had decided to visit my father's factory. His pride, glory, hope and the only thing that seems to bring him any joy. It is located further down the hill away from the other mansions. I could walk to it but walking for such a distance was not something that I believe should be required of us. In no way is something like walking appealing to those that wear my brand. To do so is something attractive only to peasants and lesser people and not of someone in my position. I shall soon ask a servant to prepare the horse and buggy to take me there. A beautiful constructed piece and a vision like the stars in the night sky. I do prefer the horse and buggy to the automobile. Princes from what I have heard often rode in them. And after all, I am like a prince and my mother and father like a king and queen. I am sure we have more riches than rulers in other parts of the world, but I digress.

Every morning upon my awake I entertain a bath in the tubs up the hall which are quite fancy, highly sought-after and hard to attain. Again, not for one such as I but for many others who may not have be able to acquire such assets. The bathrooms are truly exquisite. My mother and father each have their own lavatory, but I acquired four as one is not enough at the present time. I do not see it to be healthy nor beneficial to use one bathroom to bathe with at any given moment. Sickness seems to abound in these times and it would not make any sense to touch those things that could give one bad health and result in a sudden death that would be such a tragedy to this community and this world. Even if my thoughts on this were all in all false it is better that I have had this extra room built onto the side of this mansion and used for the placement of these pieces. It is important that I do receive what I want and when I want it. There should not be any question nor doubt in doing what I have deliberately demanded or I may have to spend time in a delirious tantrum.
