"You have to let us in!" I pleaded to the Royal Knights in front of us.

They were heavily uniformed and stood in front of the Royal Palace gates with long, sharp staffs.

Malakai stood quietly by my side. He hasn't said anything since we arrived. The carriage had left us near the Royal Palace as I had requested. It wasn't hard to find the Palace, with how huge it was. We began seeing it miles before we were even near. The ride here was uncomfortable and long. So I didn't mind the walk we took to get to the Royal Palace gates. It didn't feel long, but by the time we reached the Royal Palace, the Sun had already fully risen in the sky. It must've been afternoon already when we reached the gate.

I looked at Malakai, as I bit my bottom lip. I'm sure a lot must be going on in his head right now. So, I didn't want to trouble him.

It was no surprise that the Royal Knights wouldn't let us in, I guessed as much but for it to be happening was still frustrating. I didn't want to show them the necklace because they probably wouldn't even recognize or acknowledge it.

Also, it wasn't safe for Malakai to reveal his identity here, who knows what would happen. But we had no way to get in otherwise. "We need to see the Crown Prince, it's something really important!" I cried again, but it was no use; they were completely ignoring me.

"Argh." I kicked a nearby stone.

This was getting tiring. I had to figure out a way to get in.

"Mala—" I began to speak to him, but I was interrupted by the sound of horses dragging a carriage.

I looked at the carriage, and it was beautiful, the complete opposite of what we used. Wait. Could it be... I looked at the door expectantly, anticipating who might come out.

Hold on—my excitement dropped as fast as it came. I stood in front of Malakai, protectively hiding him behind me.

What are the chances that it's the Queen? That would not go well.

"What's going on?" A demanding and authoritative voice spoke. I gasped when I saw who came out of the carriage. It was Killian! The main male lead. I instantly recognized his black hair and blue eyes. And his selling point was the scar across his left eye. It was a wound he got while protecting the Crown Prince. That's why Cassius valued him so much. Because Killian once risked his life for him.

Ah, to see him in person! This was so exciting!

He briefly looked at us and then at the Royal Knights standing guard. He didn't even need to say anything before they saluted him and confirmed my guess.

"Captain!" Both Knights shouted.

I'm glad that it wasn't the Queen and I was slightly disappointed for a brief moment when I saw that it wasn't Cassius, but Killian was the next best thing, I guess. But wait...Cassius might be in the carriage because Killian would most likely always be around Cassius, as his Personal Knight.

The Knights briefly explained to him what was happening, and while they did that, I whispered to Malakai. "He can help us get to your brother."

He looked at me and then at Killian. I couldn't see his face, so I couldn't tell what kind of facial expression he was making. I think he should be able to recognize Killian since he was his brother's friend/knight since they were children, but I'm not sure if they've met before.
