ROMANIA
"Hey, waitress! I'm still waiting for my drink!" A drunk man was ringing the bell, but still shouting to get my attention.
I gave the couple in front of me an apologetic smile. "I'll be right back."
They nodded, understanding. I motioned to one of the other waiters to help me deal with the guy. I knew if I tried to handle things by myself something would happen. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.
'Go get security.' I mouthed to the other waiter, and he nodded, and I made my way to the other side of the restaurant.
"I'm sorry, we've run out of the wine you ordered. Instead..." I gave him my hostess smile and showed him the fruit drink I managed to grab before coming to him. I don't think more alcohol would be best for him or me.
He looked at the drink in my hand and, for some reason, got even angrier, so much so that he stood up. "Do you know who I am? I-"...here we go again.
I sighed in my heart, resisting the urge to roll my eyes. Apparently, I didn't resist it enough because his next words were:
"Did you just roll your eyes at me?!"
He was making a scene.
I now wanted to glare at him but I just bowed my head to avoid him seeing my facial expression. I glanced at my watch-It was almost my break time and I didn't want to waste a minute of it on him.
I stood up straight after apologizing and said to him. "This isn't a bar, we don't handle drunk customers. So, it would be in both of our best interests if you'd stop drinking."
His face flushed red. Embarrassed, angry, or both. He grabbed the drink on my tray and threw it onto me. I closed my eyes and stumbled backways.
...this is what I was afraid would happen. Even after pouring a drink on me he still talked down to me. That's when the other waiters came over to help, and the one I called for earlier led me out.
"Well, you got there as fast as you could," I told him as I wiped my eyes. "Sorry, I was busy with a VIP client." He explained.
I nodded, while still wiping my face. "I'm going to get changed and take off for the day." It was my break time, but I was feeling tired so I think it would be better for me to just go home.
"Okay, I need to get back to work. Sorry, Romania." He apologised before going and I gave him a small smile. We weren't exactly close but we were friendly enough to each other to work well together.
Before leaving to get changed, I spent a moment admiring the piano, which was currently playing a song I recognized, but the juice was uncomfortable, so I had to leave. I originally wanted to become a pianist so I always admired the piano whenever I passed by it.
I walked to my locker and took out a set of clothes to change into. I wasn't close to anyone at my workplace, not by choice. It was just that I was so busy that I didn't have time to hang out outside of work.
I entered the bathroom, and all the stalls were filled, so I had to wait. In the meantime, I just washed my face and hands with water so they weren't as sticky. After that, I just waited until someone came out.
Any pockets of time that I did have, like now, I spent reading. I took out my phone and opened the Webtoon app. I scanned for any new updates on the stories I was reading. There were a few updates here and there but not on the ones I was looking forward to reading. What's more is that one webtoon which was slowly becoming my favorite, had just been announced to be discontinued. I kept on refreshing and there was nothing.
