"Yes, but I can't use much right now because my core has been blocked. I have to save the little I have to help us escape." He explained.
When I realised we were locked in and wondered how we'd get out. Malakai suggested that he could use magic to unlock the door and then use the last bit of magic to cover us with the cloak so we could escape to the garden, then to the dog hole and after we'd be meeting the coachman who takes me to work and I'd bribe him with all the money I had left to take us to the Royal Palace—that was the plan.
Once we had sorted out our plan I immediately questioned him about the magic system. I was more than excited that I was in a world with real magic but all that was gone when Malakai explained it to me. He didn't question why I didn't know anything, which made me like him even more. I don't know why but even after living here for 2 months I didn't see or hear much about it, so I even forgot that magic could potentially exist in this world.
"Even though magic does exist, it isn't very common. Only 2 out of 100 people are born with it, one always being Royalty or higher levels of nobility like Dukes and Marquesss'. But even then, if your ability doesn't manifest between when you are born and the age of 5, you don't have it."
Ah, when I look back at this body's memories she definitely didn't manifest any magic. I wondered why I couldn't remember the magic system and hoped this wasn't a case of, I don't recall the contents of the webtoon and only remember when they happened or were about to.
"There are only about 10-20 people who have an affinity for magic in the entire Empire. Even commoners who get it can be treated like nobility and vice versa. The nobility who are expected to have it and don't aren't treated well." He looked down.
That may be the case because only when he said that did I remember that Cassius, his older brother doesn't have any magic! The only person in the main cast who had magic was the female lead since the male lead was a commoner who had risen and worked hard to become Captain of the Royal Knights. I recalled a part where Cassius said he received harsh treatment, from his parents simply on the fact that he didn't have any magic because everyone was expecting him too.
I looked at Malakai. It is also why the Empress felt so threatened by Malakai because he had magic and her son, Cassius, the First Prince—didn't!
But our second male lead made up for it by his intelligence. It was well-known how smart he was and sorted out most diplomatic problems which could lead to wars with by-the-book solutions. That's why when he even ended up getting crowned the Crown Prince, not many people argued.
I had a smile on my face remembering all the moments in the Webtoon when Cassius saved the day with his ideas. That's why it was so unjust when our lovable, intelligent second male lead became violent and tyrannical towards the last chapters.
But I don't blame him. I clenched my fist as I looked at Malakai who was getting ready to leave. "It's late, we should get going now, Romania."
Who killed him and how he died was never mentioned, just that he had died.
I looked at my bandaged hands. Why would anyone do that to such an already pitiful character? Well, anyway. I'll do my best to help him out as much as I can.
"Romania!" Malakai was screaming/whispering my name. I snapped out of it and saw that he had already opened the door and now he held open the cloak. "Lets go." He whispered. I nodded as I stood up.
I held onto my purse, letter and necklace. I didn't take anything from the room partly because there was not much to take in the first place and I didn't want anything to remind me of this place. I got under the cloak with Malakai and we left.

We managed to make it safely to the Garden and right now we were about to climb out the dog hole. "You go first, Malakai," I said as I got out of the invisible cloak. It seemed to work well because even though it was in the evening there were still a few servants around but when we passed them, they didn't sense a thing.
It was kind of exciting in a way. But I wouldn't let my guard down just yet. Only until we were out of this hellhole.
I looked back at the Mansion while Malakai left. It truly was beautiful but I'd long since lost my admiration for it since the people in it were the real ugly things.
I looked back at the dog hole and Malakai had safely gone out. I went on all my fours and was relieved that the pain in my hands wasn't as bad as I was anticipating. The ointment that Malakai put on, had helped a lot.
I came out of the dog hole on the other side and smiled at Malaki, we had made it out safely. "One last step." I said and took a hold of Malakai's hand, which surprised him for a moment before he went back to his indifferent expression.
We walked through the trees to get to the road where the carriage would be. It was quiet and only the sound of our feet stepping on the patches of grass and twigs beneath us was heard.
I let out a sigh of relief when I saw a wooden, run-down carriage with a single horse. The coachman leaning against it was the one who had been helping me for some time now, at a cost of course. A part of me was anxious that something might have gone wrong and he wouldn't show up.
"You're late." He said as he began climbing up to his seat. I let go of Malakai's arm. He had long since covered his face and eyes while we walked here.
I reached for a satchel full of coins. "Uhm, we'll be headed to a different location this time..." I opened it so that he could see the money. "The Royal Palace or even just near it, please." I begged.
He looked at my sachet, it was the last amount of money I had. He seemed to be thinking about it. But after a moment he just grabbed my purse and grunted that we should hurry up and get on. So, I guess that was a yes?
I looked at Malakai, smiling. I opened the door for him and motioned for him to get on. Once he was in I got in after him and closed the door.
I relaxed in the seat and sighed happily. Everything went well. I sat opposite Malakai and looked at him, he was staring out the window.
"Next step, The Royal Palace." I smiled and then looked out the window, taking one last glance at the place behind us. Swearing to myself that I would never return here again.
