I smiled at Costin's coos, kissing his head before saying goodbye to Hunter. 'Okay, if I start now and skip my lunch break with Isa — I'll make it up to them later — then I'll-' Before my thoughts could finish, I was on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. 'Mother Fucker,' I internally hissed at the pain. 'So much for getting everything ready.'

Twenty Minutes Later

"Just a sprained ankle," Apollo promised me before glancing at a pacing Isa. "Will you stay still?!"

"Fuck you!" Isa huffed and stormed out of the room.

"What was that all about?" I asked in shock, raising an eyebrow at Apollo's snort.

"They get anxious and pace a lot when someone they care about is hurt. Pointing it out is the only way to get them to walk off to cool down. Then again, Isa hates when it's pointed out, so that's their usual reaction. Anyway, I gave the medicine to Alcina so she can make sure you take it properly."

"And if she forgets?"

"You have at least five others in this castle that will remember for you both," Apollo laughed. "Miranda will do the check-up. Now, I should leave so your girlfriend can be at your side. I think she wanted to kill me when I asked her to wait in the hall."

"I wanted to kill you," I huffed, making the god laugh again. "It didn't take you long to do all of this!"

"You're right, it didn't. But she cares about you. A lot."

"I know," I giggled at the warm feeling in my chest.

Apollo's smile turned bittersweet as a far-off look appeared in his eyes. "Which also means she'll do anything to make sure you're okay — alive and healthy. Good day."

The god was gone in a flash, leaving me alone until Alcina came in. I smiled at my girlfriend before glancing at my bandaged ankle. "You're wearing the reading glasses I got you."

"Of course, I was working before your accident," The Vampire laughed before sitting beside me. "What happened?"

"Going down the stairs while planning what to do," I sighed. "Lame, I know."

"Lame? I'm just glad it wasn't too serious," Alcina sighed in relief. "And I don't have to send anyone after any maid right now. The maid that didn't clean the lounge will pay for this, but it can wait."

"What? Thought someone pushed me?"

"You are my girlfriend," Alcina pointed out. "And a maid tried to kill Costin two months ago. I think one pushing you down the stairs wasn't out of the question."

"Whatever happened to her anyway?"

"Let's not discuss that. How about we continue date night, but with a few changes?"

"I'm all ears," I smiled.

"Well, the others will head to bed early, which means I can return here with dinner as soon as Isa says it's ready."

"What else are we doing?"

"Cuddling while I read to you," Alcina mused. "I know you love seeing me wear my glasses."

I giggled, kissing her cheek when she leaned closer. "They make you hotter."

"So you've said."

"It's true!"

"I believe you, don't worry."

"What's for dinner?"

Alcina smiled, pecking my lips before standing up. "Your favorite."

Dinner

"Second."

"Hm?" Alcina hummed in question while sipping her wine.

I swallowed the bite of food before locking eyes with her. "This is my second favorite meal."

"Oh? What's your first?"

"Lookin' at her."
