Five years. You had managed to work for castle Dimitrescu for five years now. It was an achievement no one thought could be achieved but, here you were after five years - still very much alive. The daughters of the matriarch had stopped hunting you after your second year - which made everything a lot easier - but lady Cassandra still tried her best to scare you into dropping things whenever you'd cross her path.

That was until your third anniversary working there - then she stopped altogether. At that point, it felt like the daughters were just observing you. It didn't creep you out, but you did wish to question them. After your fourth year working at the castle, the girls had started treating you more like family. It had made you incredibly happy to know they'd protect you with their lives because you would do the same for them.

As the days grew closer to your fifth year at the castle, the girls started to grow more and more antsy - as if they had something big that they wanted to tell you but then they'd remember they couldn't. You even managed to corner lady Daniela and ask her why she and her sisters had been avoiding you but, she simply swarmed out of the library and you didn't see her unless it was meal time. That's when you started getting nervous - Daniela never kept secrets from you, she told you everything.

"I wonder what they're hiding..." You thought out loud, making your way through one of the many halls before you heard the muffled voices of the three sisters.

"We have to tell them."

"We promised mother we wouldn't."

"We just have to wait one more day and then it'll be ready. They'll be happy about it and we can apologize for how we've been acting after the surprise."

'Surprise... Tomorrow... I see. I guess I can stop worrying so much now that I know the ladies are planning something and that's why they won't talk to me.'

With a smile on your face, you made your way to the armory and began polishing the armor and weapons. Buzzing grew closer as you finished your task, leaving you to turn around and come face-to-face -- more like face-to-chest -- with Cassandra. Her wild eyes seemed to settle down upon realizing that it was you in front of her, bringing a quiet giggle out of you.

"Did you need something, lady Cassandra?" You inquired, noticing her eyes dart to the side before locking with yours once more.

"Mother wanted me to let you know that you should eat lunch soon - you missed having it with the other maids." Cassandra replied, her hands fidgeting with her dress.

"Oh, right... I suppose I did - no matter, they all bore me anyway. I will go eat now, my lady. Thank you for reminding me."

With a bow, you left the armory and had to stop yourself from smirking when you heard a sigh of relief leave the vampire after you had walked away. It was clear that she didn't want to keep whatever secret she had - none of them did - but she was doing so because her mother asked her to. That's why they were all keeping this secret. They'd do anything their mother said and it showed. You found it adorable - how they all refused to upset their mother for the simple fact that they just wanted her to be happy.

Once you entered the kitchen, your thoughts of the Dimitrescu family stopped and you began making yourself something to eat. Before you had the chance to enjoy your meal, however, a few of the newer maids made their way into the kitchen. They hated you and you knew that - they hated you because you were close to the family that was going to kill them and the friends they made amongst the maids. You set your food down once one of them got closer to you, your [E/C] eyes lazily drifting over to the blonde.

"Well, look who it is... The freak of the maids." She hissed out, causing the other three to giggle behind her.

"Look who it is, the whores of the village that were sent here to die." You retorted, narrowing your gaze at all of them.

"You can't talk to us that way!"

"I can. And I did. What are you going to do about it? One drop of my blood and they all come running - even their mother. Is that really a risk you're willing to take?"

You watched all of the others leave - except for the leader. She decided to stay. You simply rolled your eyes and turned back to your food. That seemed to be a huge mistake because the next thing you knew, you were turned around and a burning sensation took over your left cheek as blood splattered across the floor, your head quickly turning to the right. You hesitantly lifted a hand to your cheek and upon feeling the warm, sticky liquid flowing from your fresh wound, the sound of angry buzzing filled your ears.

A cold arm wrapped around your waist and you were pulled out of the kitchen - the screams of the maid soon mixed with buzzing and giggling. The clicking of heels soon filled the air as well and the world around you stopped rushing by. Once you had your balance, the arm around your waist disappeared and a cool, damp cloth was being dabbed on your wound - earning a low hiss of pain from you.

Lady Dimitrescu soon entered your vision and you had to swallow the lump in your throat when you saw the concern in her honey pools. You let out another hiss when you felt a needle and thread going into your cheek - knowing whichever sister had pulled you away from the scene was trying her best to actually help you instead of taste your blood. Once the stitches were in, you glanced over to notice it was Daniela, bringing a small smile to your face.

"Thank you, lady Daniela." You whispered, noticing relief flood her eyes as her smile grew.

"You're welcome." She giggled out, turning her attention to her mother. "I know it's a day early but, you should tell them."

"Go help your sisters." Lady Dimitrescu chuckled, watching her youngest swarm away. "[Y/N] ... Come with me."

You silently followed your lady, trying to keep a calm aura about yourself despite the adrenaline coursing through your veins. Once you reached your lady's chambers, you began to grow curious as to why you were there and what exactly Daniela meant. Nevertheless, you followed her inside and once she was sat at her vanity, you were at her side. You watched her fix her lipstick before turning to face you, gold eyes staring into your soul.

"Have you ever been lovesick, [Y/N]?"
