"Alpha!?" They both said in shock and joy, glancing up at their Alpha.

"She has no one to look after her, and since you are my closest friend and Beta, I thought of you two because of... You know with your situation." He said the last sentence in a low tone. He gave them a sad smile.

"Oh, thank you, Jay!" Jim's wife sang, rocking the baby back and forth. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Not because she was sad but because she was full of joy.

Jim glanced up at his Alpha and gave him a warm smile, "thank you, Alpha." He slightly bowed.

In tears of joy and happiness, they heard an innocent voice. "Mommy?" A young child, standing at the top of the stairs. He looked down at the scenario in confusion, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He had his father's dark eyes and his mother's curly hair. "Why are you crying, mommy?" He asked, tilts his head.

His mother gazed at her six-year-old son, "Oh Pete, you a big brother." She laughed warmly, lifting his new sibling a bit for him to see; tears continued rolling down her cheek. "Come meet your baby sister."

"Baby Laura has grown. How is she doing?" A woman happily asked Sam, who sat beside her at the kitchen island counter.

Both women were having a mid-afternoon cup of coffee. Their mugs in hand as they chatted away, catching up about what was happening in their life. Enjoying each other's company.

"She's amazing, always happy, and well-behaved," she sighed in contentment. Her smile widened at the thought of her daughter, "I just love her to death." She said, slightly tilting her head.

There was a comfortable silence between the two friends as they sipped their coffee. Suddenly, their silence was interrupted by a loud screaming chant of children coming from outside. "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

Both women were confused but also worried about what was going on. They quickly jumped out of the kitchen stools, running out to the back door leading to the backyard. They spotted a crowd of children cheering, surrounding two children in the centre. The two in the centre of the mass were tackling each other on the ground.

The women were shocked and concerned that those children would get hurt. They parted the sea of children, nudging their way to the front.

"PETE!" Sam yelled in great disappointment, glaring down at her son, straddling himself on top of another boy. "Get off of Dan!" She gasped, seeing the boy lying on the ground with bruises on his little face.

Pete glared, burning holes down at the boy below him. Before he stood up, he growled under his breath and clenched his tiny fists. His head was down as he stepped away from his victim.

"Why were you hitting Alpha Jay's son?" Sam scowled folded her arms across her chest, glaring down at her son.

He mumbled, "Dan was making fun of Laura." He said, letting out a sigh and closing his eyes, "he said that she's just a rejected rogue pup who's useless to the world."

"Daniel Jackson Hudson," Sam's friend, gasped in shock and disappointment. She glared and shook her head at her son as he stood up, hanging his head low.

"Sorry, Mom," he mumbled, fiddling with his tiny bruised fingers.

"Don't 'sorry' me!" She growled, "Say sorry, Mrs Cross and her daughter."

"Wait, where's Laura?" Sam gasped, glancing at the crowd of children. "Where's my baby!?" She yelled.

"Here!" They glanced at Jay as he stepped out of the woods. Wrapped in his firm arms was a tiny girl who was fast asleep.

"Alpha, thank you!" Sam cried in relief, running towards him. She gently pulled her baby girl from Jay's arms into hers. She brushed loose greyish hair back into place before kissing her forehead warmly.

"It's okay. I'm just sorry about my son's statement about your daughter," he said, snapping a glare at his son, Dan.

*~* THREE YEARS LATER *~*

The night was as silent as the dead, and the moon was full and high. The full moon brought light into the dark woods. Revealing the creatures of the night as they roamed wild and free. But the night was in peace.

However, in one house, screams and moans of pain echoed throughout. Sam and Jim burst into Laura's room. There, they found Pete sitting by Laura's bed, wrapping her in his arms, rocking her back and forth, trying to calm her down.

"What's going on?" Jim growled in confusion as Sam kneeled on the other side of Laura's bed.

"It hurts!" Laura cries out in pain, wrapping her arms around her stomach. "I want it to stop!"

"Is she shifting?" Pete asked in a worried tone, glancing between his parents.

"I think so, but it's early for her," Jim muttered, furrowing his eyebrows.

Laura screamed and pushed Pete's arms away. She jerked herself to sit upright, lifting her pyjama top. Crying her eyes out in pain.

"Oh my goddess," Sam whispered, quickly grabbing Laura's hand.

Everyone gazed down at the burning marking on Laura's hip. It slowly became dark, and flower patterns appeared, putting themselves into place until they stopped. Forming a crescent moon...
