Chapter 1: Can you pay Attention?

Trystan and Tails were hanging out in Tail’s workshop, Trystan was sitting on the beanbag, and Tails was working on his projects. “Tails.” Trystan calls out to Tails. “Mhmm?” Tails looks at Trystan while working on his project. “Breaking bad, or Stranger things.?” Trystan asks. “Hmph, easy, Breaking Bad.” Tails says while looking through his toolbox. “Yeah.” Trystan says as he sinks into the beanbag and relaxes. “Tails.” Trystan calls out to Tails again. “Hmm?” Tails asks. “Can you pay Attention, please?” Trystan asks. “Yeah, sure.” Tails says. “Really?” Trystan sits up and asks. “Yeah.” Tails nods and says. “Aww thanks Tails, you’re a life saver.” Trystan says. “Yeah.. Wait, what?” Tails looks at Trystan confusedly. “YOU CAN COME IN.” Trystan yells. “Who are you-” Tails stops talking mid-sentence when a big scary guy with a beard and tattoos on his neck walks into the place.

“WHAT THE-!?” Tails yells, and he steps away from his workbench. “There you go. I told you he’d do it.” Trystan tells the big scary guy. Tails keeps exchanging looks at the big scary guy and Trystan, not knowing what’s happening. “Go on Tails, pay the man.” Trystan tells Tails. “I um I- wait wait wait, what?” Tails asks confusedly. “Pay the man.” Trystan says. “Who is this guy?” Tails asks. “This is Attention, “Mr Attention.”” Trystan says. “…Attention is a guy..?” Tails asks while looking up at the big scary guy. “Mhmm.” Trystan nods and says. “Ok Tails, pay the man.” Trystan does a go on gesture with his hand and says. “WHAT!? HOW MUCH!?” Tails asks. “5K” Trystan says like it’s nothing. “5-… 5K!?” Tails yells in shock. “He needs the money now.” Trystan says. Tails just stares up at Mr Attention, he’s terrified. *Trystan walks up to Tails. “Tails he doesn’t like waiting long.” Trystan tells Tails. Tails slowly turns his head to Trystan and gives Trystan the most confused look ever. “Attention…is a person..” Tails says. Trystan nods. “And when you told me to pay attention, you literally meant that I have to “pay Attention”.” Tails says. Trystan nods again. Tails rubs his temples, then looks up at Mr Attention. “Mr Attention is in the Russian mafia.” Trystan says. “WHAT!?” Tails yells in shock. “Yip.” Trystan nods and says. Tails looks at Mr Attention again, puts his hands together, and steps forward. “So you see now, Mr Attention, my friend over here asked me if I could ‘pay attention’, and I think you can see where I misunderstood.” Tails tells Mr Attention. “...You will have to pay up either way.” Mr Attention says in his heavy Russian accent. “Wait, what?” Tails asks, then looks at Trystan and then back at Mr Attention. “Your friend over here said you’ll help him pay me the money I need.” Mr Attention says.  “…Why?” Tails asks, then glances at Trystan. “He told me that you’d be able to pay what he owes us.” Mr Attention says. “WHEN DID HE SAY THIS!?” Tails asks. “Last night by the casino.” Mr Attention says. “Why was he in the casino?” Tails asks. “I was playing blackjack…” Trystan says. Tails doesn’t know what to say. “Now pay up, I don’t have whole day.” Mr Attention says. “I.. I don’t have 5k..” Tails says. Mr Attention sighs. “Ok, then I’ll have to take something else as payment.” Mr Attention says. Mr Attention grabs Trystan by the neck. “AHH!” Tails yells. Trystan tries to break free, but he’s losing air. “WAIT, STOP!” Tails yells and tries to stop Mr Attention from killing Trystan. “We’ll get you your money… Just let him go.” Tails says in a slightly scared voice. Mr Attention let’s go of Trystan’s neck, and Trystan falls to the ground. “One week.” Mr Attention tells Tails.

“Thank you, thank you.” Tails Smiles and says. “50k.” Mr Attention says. Tails nods his head. “Yes, Yes. 50- WHAT! 50K!?” Tails yells in shock. “I charge interest.” Mr Attention says. “THAT’S 1000% MORE!” Tails yells. “I want my money. I’ll be back in one week, and if you run away… I will find you.” Mr Attention says menacingly then walks out of the workshop and jumps into his car and leaves. Tails watches Mr Attention leave, then looks at Trystan on the ground. “You..” Tails says in an angry voice and walks towards Trystan. Trystan stands up and looks down at Tails while walking backward. “Wait, wait, wait, hold up short guy” Trystan says and tries to calm Tails down. Tails points his finger at Trystan. “YOU GOT ME INTO ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR ANTICS… AGAIN!” Tails yells. “Ok relax.” Trystan says. “'RELAX!?' HOW AM I GOING TO RELAX, YOU GOT ME INVOLVED WITH THE RUSSIAN MAFIA.” Tails yells while having both hands on his head. “I’m sorry.” Trystan says. “WHY WERE YOU EVEN IN THE CASINO WITH SOMEONE THATS IN THE RUSSIAN MAFIA!? AND WHY DID YOU TELL HIM I WOULD PAY THE MONEY YOU OWE HIM!?” Tails yells. “Ok Tails, you gotta calm down with the yelling. You’re overdoing it.” Trystan says. “IM NOT THE ONE WHO OWES MONEY TO THE RUSSIAN MAFIA!” Tails yells, then takes a deep breath and covers his face with his hands, then uncovers his face. “You ok now?” Trystan asks Tails. Tails gives a look that says “just shut up”. Trystan stays silent. “First off all.. Why were you gambling with the Russian mafia?” Tails asks Trystan. “I-” Before Trystan can say anything, he gets cut off by Tails. “SHUT UP, DON’T TALK!” Tails yells at him. Trystan still stays silent. “Second of all, why did you involve me?” Tails asks Trystan. “Because-” Trystan gets cut-off by Tails. “I SAID SHUT UP!” Tails yells. Trystan stays silent. “And third of all, is this the only situation you got into?” Tails asks Trystan. Trystan stays silent. “ANSWER ME WHEN IM SPEAKING!” Tails yells at Trystan. “BUT YOU SAID NOT TO TALK.” Trystan yells back. “SINCE WHEN DO YOU EVER LISTEN TO ME!?” Tails yells. “Ok, ok.. let’s both stop yelling.” Trystan says. Tails walks away and sits on a chair, and starts rethinking his life choices. “You okur?” Trystan asks. Tails stays silent while staring at the floor. “Why do you owe him money?” Tails asks while still looking down. “I told you. Blackjack.” Trystan says as he steps closer and looks down at Tails sitting on the chair. “No, I mean ‘Why’” Tails says and looks up at Trystan. “You wanna know?” Trystan asks. “OBVIOUSLY!” Tails yells. “Ok so I was playing blackjack at the casino for fun, then that’s when Mr Attention came by the table, so then he made a bet with me, and I agreed.” Trystan says. “What bet?” Tails asks. “He put 5k on the table and asked me to play a game blackjack with him.” Trystan says. “And you took the bet…” Tails sighs in annoyance and says. Trystan nods. “I beat him and got the money.” Trystan says. “Then why do you owe him the 5k?” Tails asks. “I.. May have cheated.” Trystan rubs the back of his head and says. “You cheated while playing with someone you knew was in the Russian mafia.” Tails says. “Yes.” Trystan says. “How did he find out?” Tails asks. “Someone saw me, and they told him.” Trystan says. “So he asked you for his money back.” Tails says. “Yes, but I didn’t have it.” Trystan says. “HOW!?” Tails yells. “I went to the mall and spent it all.” Trystan says. “BUT HOW? YOU WERE IN A CASINO.” Tails asks in confusion. “The mall was next to the casino.” Trystan says. “And he found you?” Tails asks. “Yes.” Trystan nods and says. “Then why didn’t you return the stuff and get the money back?” Tails asks. “I lost the stuff.” Trystan says casually. “WH- WHAT, HOW?” Tails asks. “I left it on the ground and went away for a while to get some ice cream, and when I turned around, it was gone.” Trystan says. “So it was stolen..” Tails says. “Yeah, I guess so.” Trystan says. “Then Mr Attention found me and demanded his money back, then I said I couldn’t pay him back because I spent it all, and he asked how else am I gonna pay it, and that’s where your name came in.” Trystan says. Tails gives him a “I hate you” look. “Atleast it wasn’t like the last situation.” Trystan says. “We almost died last time.” Tails says. “Don’t bring up the past.” Trystan tells Tails. “YOU WERE THE ONE THAT- you know what, never mind, how are we gonna make 50k?” Tails asks. “Don’t worry... I got plans.” Trystan says with a smile. Tails has a worried look on his face.
