How we met

Yokai's P.O.V

Waking up this Monday I was excited. Today I got to start my job, that means I get extra money, while still going to school! I'll be the first one of my friends to get a job, which for me feels like a achievement. I stood up and went to the bathroom and after I went downstairs to the kitchen to say hi to my mom. "Hi honey, here's some toast, be quick, Monarch's waiting for you already." My mom said as I got downstairs moments before she went to the other room. Monarch's my older brother, he took after her and he's definitely mom's favourite. He has her butterfly features, while I took after my dad and have his moth features. My dad's rarely home but at least when he's here, he spends time with me.

As I finished my toast I heard my brother yell out to me, to hurry up. I took my backpack and went outside to him seeing him typing on his phone, already in his car not looking up. "Took ya long enough, you know as a hero, I have stuff to attend to." I rolled my eyes at him, of course he has to bring that up, he's a high tier hero, that's another reason why he's mom's favourite. Yeah I'm happy for him, he's my brother and I love him, but he uses that too much sometimes. Anyway I opened the door to the passenger seat and sat quietly, he then put his phone away and turned to me with a smile. He reached a hand over to me and ruffled my hair making me smile. Then he started the car and drove me to school. "Have fun Lil' guy. Don't get into fights and don't do drugs!" He yelled out of the window as I started to walk to school already seeing my friends.

Time skip to after school

Waving to my friends goodbye, I walked away downtown, to the address of the flyer that I found. Last week I found a flier, looking for a cleaner, which of course doesn't level to what my brother does, but hey! It's something at least, right? Now this should have been a red flag, when the address led to a sketchy alley way, but some people maybe like living in sketchy alleyways, so I chose to not question it. This is a mistake kids, please don't meet strangers in sketchy alleyways. Stepping deeper and deeper into the alleyway I heard noises behind a dumpster. I stepped closer and....

"RAHHHH!!!!"

"EEEEEKK!!!"

"BAHAHAHA!!!, YOU SCREAM LIKE A DYING CAT" yelled a stranger while laughing at me, as I held a hand to my chest still shocked from the way the stranger greeted me. "NOT FUNNY AT ALL" I yelled, I was not having it. They looked at me with a wide grin "sorry dude, I just saw an opportunity, and I took it. Anyway you here for the job? Yes? Great! I might have lied a bit bout' the job, but too late, you're my sidekick now!, my name is duster and as you might know I am an amazing villain! You have to have heard about me." They spoke as I watched their every move.

Then I spoke carefully "I don't think I have ever heard about you."
They looked at me and their grin flattered. That's also when I noticed that they're a mantis hybrid, not a common one to see. "What do you mean? You don't know about the great lady Duster? Lil ol' me?" She said desperately probably hoping that I do know her, which I'm pretty sure I don't. "Look, I see you are desperate, so I'll help you, I got nothing better to do, and I told my parents that I finally got a job, so I hope you'll pay me. And I have to be undercover all time. My brother is Monarch, he can't know I'm helping a villain. OK?. I told her, cause I really have nothing better to do. Then I saw her smile return "yes of course, well you got my number, I'll text ya when I need ya!" She yelled, as she ran the other way from the alleyway, I then turned around going home, while thinking of what I have gotten myself into.

She doesn't seem like a big threat, so hopefully we can go under the radar so that Monarch won't notice us. Well now I need to somehow get home, while Monarch is still doing his hero patrol. So I guess I gotta walk.

Hope you enjoyed the first chapter. The next one is gonna be written by Elliz so it's gonna be probably way better. And if being honest this is our first story so any criticism would be appreciated!
