Lydia touched the Quinjet down. Her, Coulson, and the small team landed just outside the town where the desert began and kept it in cloaking mode. Coulson was reluctant to get in the car once he saw Lydia aggressively pull off the Quinjet ramp in front of him. Lydia rolled her eyes up and the window down.
"Get in loser, we're going shopping." As terrified by the girls driving abilities (or lack there of), Coulson was, he was undeniably impressed and too amused to not get in the car. Coulson sighed and dropped his head when he jogged over to the passengers side with a sly smile on full display.
"How dare you use my love for Mean Girls against me." Coulson aggressively pulled the door open and slammed it shut. Lydia was giggling with delight, proud of her accomplishment.
"You mean your sick admiration for Regina George."
"She's a good, well written character with more development than Cady, Gretchen and Karen combined—"
"Bla bla bla! You like blondes!" Lydia took off like she did in the Randy's donuts parking lot, but there was no cement on the ground, just dirt and darker dirt.
"Like I always say, if it's not paved, then everywhere is safe." Coulson definitely did not like that little saying.
"What does tha—" Coulson very quickly found out that meant. Lydia did not follow the dirt roads and went wherever she pleased across the rough terrain. By the time they arrived at the scene, every car following her had learned to stay more than ten feet back at all times and to stop trying to follow her every small or large turn because they'd all end up in the same place anyways. Coulson felt the final push of vomit attempting to climb his ghost as Lydia abruptly hit the brakes at the top of the hill.
"Traumatic enough for ya?" Coulson couldn't form words as he leaned against his car door and sloppily opened it with both hands. He bent over and fell to his knees as soon as the car seat wasn't there to hold him up anymore. His gag reflex went off but the vomit evaporated before it could leave his throat. Lydia jumped out and stretched her legs full of life and excitement, ready to get to the bottom of the 084.
"Ready to go?" Her chirpiness was not shared. Behind them a few more cars pulled up, relieved to see Lydia away from the wheel. Coulson got to his feet and brushed the sandy dirt off his fine suit.
"Call Fury. Tell him we've found it." Lydia whipped her head towards Coulson.
"What? No, you do it." Coulson heavily sighed, already extremely ready to go home. He tried to step forward but only ended up slapping a hand on the hood of the car and gagging while doubling over once more.
