Pool Party - Part 1

Start from the beginning

Bada had chuckled and nodded. "Hahaha, I see, I see. Guess we should tell her to join in then", agreeing to the other girl's request. She had to say she was more than happy to have another occasion to talk to the other girl. She had felt completely taken by surprise the day before, a situation she was rarely in, so she had catching up to do. Bada tried not to overthink it as Amaia approached.

And now Bada found herself restraining herself from biting her lip, trying not to grip too hard Amaia's thighs, the girl perched on her shoulders, still trying to balance her. Round 2 was going on, this time Yeni-Cho against Amaia, Tatter and Audrey teaming up to tackle Redy and Harimu who were spraying water from the sidelines to anyone involved in the battle.

Bada stood eye to eye with Haechi, who had Yeni-Cho perched on her shoulders, looking thoroughly worn out by the rookie's boundless energy. Bada mirrored Haechi's "kids are tiring" expression, but her façade crumbled a second when the other girl shot her an inquisitive look.

Bada couldn't help but feel exposed, even though she wasn't doing anything wrong. She had a feeling that anyone could read her face and sense that something between her and Amaia was more than just friendship. Despite her efforts to maintain a poker face, it seemed like people saw right through her, especially with Amaia practically on top of her. Her hands on the other girls' thighs felt like they were burning. When the two girls finally called a truce, Amaia jumped off Bada's shoulders but latched onto her back piggy-back style.

"Thank youuu, Bada! Now Yeni-Cho can't tell she's better than me."

Bada gently lowered her, her hand lingering on Amaia's waist for a moment too long. "You're welcome Amaia." She added more playfully. "Now I guess we do are even".

Amaia blushed from head to toe, and she momentarily dove into the water to hide her face.

She resurfaced, but Bada had not turned around; in fact, she was leaning closer to Amaia.

"Do you always turn so red?" Bada asked

Amaia's blush deepened, the proximity with the other girl making her heart race.

"I just don't like being caught off guard"she confessed lowering her eyes, unable to keep up with the tension radiating from Bada's stare.

"Well, neither do I," replied the taller girl, closing the distance between them even more. She gently tucked a stray piece of wet hair behind Amaia's ear, her mouth millimetres away from where Amaia's mouth had been the day before.

"So you're not saying I was dumb to do it," said Amaia in a whisper, painfully aware of what would happen if she tripped and closed the distance between the girls.

"Of course you're not dumb. You have eyes. And so do I." Bada winked finally, staring into Amaia's eyes, then turning away to join her team before the moment could become too conspicuous to the others, her timing perfect.

Amaia turned her head, already knowing she would lock eyes with Audrey from the side of the pool. Instead, she found herself under the scrutiny of both Audrey and Tatter. Tatter gave her a subtle nod mouthing "I'll come back" and headed after Bada, clearly intent on getting some answers.

Audrey couldn't contain herself and blurted out, "Okay, girl, spill the tea. I know you like the back of my hand. What happened?"

"Noth-"

"Just spill it." Audrey's tone was determined.

"NOTHING. I swear," Amaia hushed. "I kissed her goodbye yesterday."

"YOU WHAT?"

"ON THE CHEEK," Amaia clarified, her voice a loud whisper.

"WHERE ARE YOU FINDING THE NERVE, GIRL?"

"LISTEN, I DIDN'T PLAN ON IT. IT JUST. HAPPENED," Amaia insisted.

"Hmm, yeah, because you two can't keep separate." Amaia let out a sigh of exasperation, and Audrey continued to probe her.

"Just admit that you want to act on your crush?! Whatever is going on is mutual. I thought she was going to kiss you right in the middle of the pool."

Amaia held up her hands defensively. ""I don't know ok ? She's hot, there I'll admit it. And somehow she seems to keep crossing my path but let's calm down, okay? I'm not making any other moves. I'll just see how it goes. And it wouldn't hurt getting to know her actually".

"Yeah instead of simply gawking at each other" concluded Audrey with a sly grin.

"BADA!"

Bada pinched her nose, realizing she couldn't postpone this forever.

"What's going on?" asked Tatter, barging into the team's cabin. "I didn't think it was that serious."

"It's not!" Bada protested.

"Please, you were ready to kiss her, just admit it."

"No."

"Don't you dare deny it," Tatter insisted "Why are you two dancing around each other like this? I don't get it."

"I don't know, okay? Every time I think I can find the time to get to know her, we end up in... those situations you saw, and then..."

"And then you act as if you're burning each other," Tatter interjected. "Why do you wait, though?"

"What do you mean?" Bada asked, confused.

"Well, what's keeping you from talking to her at the buffet or having a quiet conversation on the way back, or, I don't know, any other occasion that doesn't involve you carrying her on your shoulders?"

Bada looked down, realizing Tatter was right. But riding the anticipation and excitement of all those moments they had shared so far was easier than creating an opportunity to enjoy each other's presence. Tatter was not done though

"Bada, if you were only physically attracted to her, trust me, we would know. I've never seen you overthink something about someone with whom literally nothing has happened yet. Obviously, you two have a connection."

"Fine, fine, you're right," Bada conceded. She knew it would be easier in the end if she took the lead. "I'll go now then, happy?" She asked Tatter, turning to the main lounge without waiting for her response.

Tadaaaammmm, what do we think ???

Thank you so much for leaving comments on the previous chapter ! It really helped me figure out the pace of this chapter. As you can tell, I've splitted it in two, one to build a bit more the tension, and the next one will be more about actually creating a bond between the two :))))

I'll probably post tomorrow <333
