If he wants to play stupid games like try to fight me, then he'll win stupid prizes like getting his ass handed to him by a girl.

"Are there any questions?" Coach Mallory asked while she looked at us that were at the starting line.

We shook our heads and stayed silent.

"Good." She nodded and cleared her throat while she gestured for us to start. "Then you all can begin."

And with that, everyone took off with me trailing behind the rest.

I started to grow bored, waiting to see if Cal would try to attack me or not, knowing full well that there was a chance he would try. I bit back a small sigh and pursed my lips in annoyance while I watched me passing people.

Fuck it, I thought when I passed another person, who was struggling to do the long distance run over the wooden path and pursed my lips further. He'll try something, but I don't think he'll try today for some reason. I might as well pick up my pace and get going.

I took a deep breath and let it out before I picked up my pace until I was starting to pass more and more people.

I was surprised about how many people were trying out but didn't question it, for I knew that most of them might quit, especially because of the early morning training, which I was used to already.

Chattering and laughter filled the air in front of me, and I picked up my pace so that I would be able to catch up and pass whoever was there.

It didn't take me long to catch up to them, and I could see that it was both Yaz and Gracie running together and having a grand old time. They were talking and didn't seem to care that they were being timed on this run.

I bit back a small smirk before I started to run faster. "Coming through," I said and swiftly ran around them, leaving them shocked and speechless.

"Where did she come from?" Yaz asked, her voice barely above a whisper, and I couldn't help but smirk. Shock and respect filled her voice, and it took all of my self-control not to look at them because they didn't know I could hear them. "I didn't even hear her come up behind us."

Gracie shrugged, and I had a feeling that she grimaced. "Run, Cass!" she exclaimed. "The boys are somewhere up front, see if you can't get to them."

I turned my body around while I looked at them and smirked and winked before I turned back to the front again. "That's the plan!" I exclaimed, earning a sharp laugh from them. "I'll see you at the finish line!"

I picked up my pace some more, making sure that I didn't use my full speed and ran towards the boys to catch up with them and possibly pass them.

The wind blew through my hair while I ran towards them, and I made sure to act as if I was having a slight problem catching up to them. Sweat beaded across my forehead, and my breathing was slightly labored, but it wasn't to the point where anyone could hear it.

All too soon, I saw the boys ahead of me and bit back a triumphant grin before I picked up my pace again just so that I could get behind them, the wind working both with and against me.

I still wasn't going my full speed, but I didn't care while I got up behind them and barked at Grayson.

"Shit!" Grayson said and almost tripped over his own feet as well as the feet of the other two men while he jumped up in shock. He twisted around and looked at me, and his eyes were wide and filled with fear. "How the hell did you get up here so fast?" he asked.

I had to slow down a bit because I was having a harder time breathing, since I was trying not to laugh because I was not expecting that type of reaction from him. Tears pricked the corner of my eyes, and it got so painful that I had to gasp out laughing.
