34 part 1

I tried to retract my hand back but Damien had other plans with his bruising grip on my wrist.

I couldn't force myself to open my eyes as Mateo's anguished whimpers left no doubt as to his immense suffering.

A rough grip on my nape forced a strangled whimper. His breath fanned against my ear.
"Look what you made me do to him,"
I knew I would regret opening my eyes but I did it.

Oh my god... Damien had cut his.... little toe.

Or Did I do it? I managed to get his grip off my wrist as the blood was making it extremely slippery.

A terrifying sight of blood followed the severing of a little toe.
Blood was all over the place.

I threw up everything in my stomach and tried to crawl backwards as I struggled to catch my breath and deal with the lingering nausea.

"Now, he is going to die if you refused to play the game, " Damien said with a calm tone.

Damien's wrath was utterly justified, as I'd tried and failed to flee his grasp for an entire year. In the preliminary stages of my escapes, he'd always resort to physically battering me.

But this time? I escaped.. like really, I successfully fled from Damien, remaining away from him for a full two weeks.

The scars adorning his wrists were testament to his ...whatever you call it...during my absence, with him picking at his skin in his distress. Furthermore, subtle display of  rare humanlike behavior whilst maintaining his trademark blank, expressionless gaze is truly unsettling.

'psychopath'

"Yes or ...yes?" He mumbled. I couldn't see him but I could hear the smirk in his statement-like question.

The temperature seemed to go down a degree as I tried my best to stop the tears. Everything was blurry and the dim light bulb in this soundproof basement wasn't helping.

He didn't even turn to look at me as he continued to examine the toe he just made me cut.. it was sickening sight to see...

"So I'm getting the silent treatment?!"
His tone going a bit low as I remained quiet.

My hands growing numb from trying to crawl further away from him.

"Hm..."

'you would hurt me anyways!' I waited with a bated breath as I thought to myself.

"I can't read minds you know?"

A hitch in my breath interrupted my thoughts as he suddenly reached for the pliers, turning towards me with a menacing look in his eye.

Unflinching in the face of my cries, he firmly seized my right hand and I struggled like a wild animal.

"I don't read minds, but I know when little brats like you try and revolt against the hands that feed you, aka me!"

It only became worse when I heard the crack, followed by excruciating pain flooding through me. With him letting my hand go, I crumpled to the floor.

The awkward angle my finger was currently at confirmed the truth; it was, indeed, somewhat broken.

Fretting over my broken finger was not an option as my adrenaline continued to soar. That was my worst nightmare about to become a reality—my limbs being lopped off. My body began to shake due to such an awful notion.

"Damien, P-Please... please..."
Releasing a weak whimper and adopting a defeated expression, my sense of hopelessness took hold.

Trying not to flinch at him approaching and abruptly grabbed me by my throat only to assault my mouth. He sucked the life out of me while gripping my windpipe.

He habitually relied on that habit to pacify himself. Tilting my head to meet his eyes after planting a harsh kiss on my forehead.

"I guessed that's a yes," not a question...

I nodded exhaustedly.

An unsettling smile, given the dreadful set of circumstances I was facing, appeared on his face. Leading to him dragging me out of the basement and impatiently carrying me upstairs.

My eyes struggling to adjust the light outside.

I knew there's no going back at the revelation of his movements practically giving the unhinged vibe.
He put a cloth over my eyes and knotted behind my head swiftly.
I could sense he was excited or happy as his hands were shaking.

I felt the cold wind stroke me.

He quickly removed the cloth when he reached his destination.

I sure was outside...and it was backyards opposite from the gates I've trying to pass through.

I was facing the forest, a large one at that.

I dared to take a peak back at him... him already aiming a gun at me.

" Run."

Yo!

The updates are erratic I know!
But I've got more chapters to edit and much less time to do it because I have been working.

This book has 100+ chapters and I'm going to continue it after updating the remaining 35-90.

Book 2 will be confusing if you're a new reader because chapters between 35-99 were being taken down.

It's exhausting I know...but I think I'll be updating more frequently from a month now on.

Luv ya, I'm just busy...not dead😆❤️❤️❤️
