The following morning, she carefully removed herself from their embrace. She crept out of the bed, put on her clothes and sneaked out of the room. She went straight to the kitchen and found Manang Ludy doing something on the island counter.

“Good morning Manang!” she cheerfully greeted.

“Good morning Sarah,” Manang Ludy replied.

“Manang, okay na po ba lahat?”

“Okay na. Relax ka lang.”

“Gusto ko lang po maging perfect kasi.”

Sarah’s constant visits to the Anderson house have allowed her to bond with the other people in the household, which included Manang Ludy, Letty and Manong Jun.

Manang Ludy is a middle-aged woman whom Gerald and Ken treated like a second mom to the point that sometimes her opinion on certain things mattered. She has been with them for eight years now and is basically in-charge of everything a lady-of-the-house does. Letty, on the other hand, is the younger helper of the family. She helps Manang Ludy around the house. Then there’s Manong Jun, the ever-reliable driver and all-around handyman.

The first time she visited the house without Gerald, she and Manang Ludy were able to talk – about things concerning the house but mostly about Gerald.

“Manang, nabanggit po sa akin ni Ge na matagal na raw po nila kayong kasama dito at close daw po talaga kayo sa isa’t isa.”

“Oo, totoo ‘yan. Ako na ang tumatayong nanay nila kasi binilin sa akin ni Ma’am Vangie ang magkapatid na ‘yan.”

“Aaah… ano po kasi.”

“Ano ‘yun? ‘Wag ka na mahiya sa akin.”
