Melanie zips up the last bag she packed to take home. After some thought, she decided to go back to her childhood home with her mother, her little brothers, and her step-father. Being the only girl in the family isn't that bad, but being the oldest and only daughter in the family is a pain. It's bad enough her mother allowed her step-father to push those double standards onto her and her older brother. She just wants them to understand that she is responsible and respectful, and they are going to have to let her grow up on her own. Looking around her empty dorm room, she sighs sadly. The night before, her, Zara, Angel, and Estrella decided to have a group date before they all had to leave. Melanie would've left for the break the same day as they did, but she was still deciding if she wanted to leave or not. After a long night of rest, she decided to take Angel's advice and work things out, and hopefully she will work things out.
As she pulls her luggage towards the front door of the dorm, her phone begins to ring. Melanie pulls her phone out of her bag and answers the call after glancing at the caller ID.
"Yes?" She sighs, grabbing her car keys.
"I'll be there in an hour." Her step father announces.
Melanie was ready to make the drive, but her mother told her step-father to pick her up instead. She now has an hour to figure out where to keep her car for a week.
"Alright." She says, hanging up the phone before looking through her contacts, trying to see who'll be staying for the break and who she trusts to keep her car.
Seeing that most of the people in her contacts went home, the only three that she could think of are Paine, Leon, and Miko. Paine is dealing with a lot still and she doesn't think calling him about a car is fair. She's sure Leon would help her out, but did she really want to call him?
Her eyes linger on Miko's name before she clicks the call button. Holding the phone up to the ear, and waiting for him to answer. After what felt like ages, he finally answers. Melanie could hear the sound of something metal hitting metal on the other end of the call, which causes her to assume he was in the shop.
"Hello?" Miko speaks into the phone cause her voice to get stuck in her throat.
She hadn't heard his voice in so long, it almost made her cry. Almost.
"Are you super busy," She asks politely, tapping the handle of her luggage that she had anxiously. "At the moment?"
"Uh," He hums, causing her to close her eyes, listening to his voice. He sounds so tired, so different, but even if she noticed the tiredness of his voice she couldn't help but love how he sounds. "Not really. Why?"
Melanie sits in the chair beside her desk and nibbles her lip. "I'm going home for a week, and I need someone to watch my car?"
