hello lovies, i get that some of you are struggling with the all the information that you received last chapter but i just have to say, i dont think it was that far fetched now was it? i had left clues through out the book because i had this plot planned a long time ago and i wouldnt name drop someone in a book unless they were important or supposed to return,.

a simplified version of last chapter:
max has been digging around trying to find out more about the contract he signed with marcy (their fake relationship thing back in the first chapter) before his wedding he received shocking information that made it clear why christian agreed to the whole "marriage of convenience" but we as the readers dont know what is in the file and marcy doesnt know anything at all. we know since the first time marcy's ex was mentioned that max was trying to find a way to serve him with a restraining order. when he finally gets the documents and sets up the meeting, he learns that his former manager (will ackerman) is now managing marcy's ex (damon knight). will tells max that damon wont stop bothering marcy until he gets answers. answers to why she terminated her pregnancy(that happened due to an assault) max did not know about this since marcy only told him part of her history with damon. from the very early chapters when max and marcy get comfortable with each other it is explained that marcy is adopted by her uncle and aunt (howard and diana but she calls them mom and dad. her birth mom is tonya saints). howard is controlling and uses marcy as a golden ticket in business deals (mentioned in chapter 22) so when max finds out that marcy had shared the secret pregnancy and termination with Jenna (former best friend) and Tonya he figured that Tonya would have told Howard.
Max then meets with Christian to ask him if he knew about the contract's clause - which is if max asks for a divorce from marcy after their contract is fulfilled he has to pay a huge amount of money in alimony but the money would go to howard instead of marcy (that was his sneaky business leverage) this is why max wondered why christian would have agreed to something like this and why he dug more until the answers he received on his wedding day that christian is marcy's dad. that was the major exposure from last chapter.

Their flight back to Monaco was filled with dread and awkwardness, Marcy was giving Max the cold shoulder and Max knew he deserved it. He wanted to talk to her to beg for forgiveness, but he also didn't know how to go about when she refused to even acknowledge him. This was probably the first time they ever had a fight and now he saw what Charles and Rio meant when they used to tease, he saying there would come a day Max would experience silent treatment Marcy and god he hated it.
