Reaching the Ending

Back to December

This day is going to be awesome! 

Napagplanuhan namin na gumawa ng snowman sa labas ng boarding house at lumanghap ng amoy ng fresh na malamig na hangin  dito sa America. Kaunting oras na lang at darating na siya dito super excited na akong makita yung mukha niya. Ilang years kasi kaming hindi nagkikita.  

Panay calls lang kami at sulat. Matagal pa bago ko matanggap ang reply niya sa akin. Paulit-ulit ko siyang hinihikayat na sumama na sakin pero ayaw niya talaga. Nandoon ang buhay niya eh at dun siya sa nakasanayan niya. 

I was kicking my feet when he called in the morning. The pine trees are covered in white fluffy looking cotton candies. The squirrels were feasting in the pile pf snow where they stock the walnuts during summer. 

Nakapag-ipon na rin ako ng medyo malaking pera para naman makauwi ako sa Pilipinas at makita ang mga kapatid ko. Gusto kong magbakasyon kasama sila kahit ilang linggo lang bago bumalik uli dito.

Ang tagal ko na din dito pero nahohomesick pa rin ako. Miss na miss ko na sila at gusto ko na silang mayakap. It's chilly in here even if I'm near the fireplace. 

"Stella! Can you please help me with the groceries?"

"Yes Ma'am!"

Dinala ko sa kitchen ang mga grocery na pinamili niya. Mga preserved fruits and vegetables at yung iba naman ay canned. Nalalapit na ang Christmas kaya naman magpapaturo siya sa akin gumawa ng Filipino style christmas dishes.

"You will teach me after dinner, alright? I have to take a nap. Don't talk loud with your lover outside." 

"Yes, Ma'am."

Tonight, I will teach her how to cook adobo and lechong kawali. We took the firewoods in the cabin and lit up the fire because we are going to cook in a traditional oven which is made up of bricks and all that.  Nasa pagluluto na kami nang may nagring ng doorbell.

"Looks like the lover is here huh?" she teased.

"Maybe." I doubt that he's at the door. He said his flight is delayed.

"C'mon get your ass off the ground!"

"Yes,Ma'am."

As soon as I saw his face I know. I saw the glimpse of the ending of a story.

"You're here!"

"You're finally here!"

"Op! Yeah." his voice is quite different on the phone.

I finally saw the man I only ever loved. I have to remind myself that this is the last thing. The last moment that I will be with him. 

He looked good with his beard and purple comfy clothes. It felt very warm when I embraced that strange man inside this little bungalow. 

This is perfect.

The perfect day to finally let go of things.

"We will catch the latest bus and I'll make you a little snowman underneath the mountains!"

"Be careful!" 

Matagal na kaming magkasama ni Ma'am at close na rin kami sa pagdaan ng mga panahon. Actually dalawa ang kasama ko sa bahay na ito. Ang asawa niyang umalis para hanapin ang first love niya. Hindi naging madali para sa naiwan ang buhay ang mag-isa kaya naman pinakiusapan ako na alagaang mabuti si Ma'am Bella. 

"Yes, Ma'am!"

I already told her about my plan in this day. May kasama naman siya mamaya na dadating sa bahay. Ang kaniyang apo. Sobrang dalas niya ngang bisitahin ang lola niya kung wala lang soyang trabaho sa malayo, hindi na siya aalis.
