"Riling you up."

"Am I not allowed to do the same?"

"No. That's cheating."

"Cheating? I can show you cheating."

"No biting until after dinner!" I squealed when she grazed her teeth over my neck. "Are you sure you're not in heat?"

Miranda purred at the mention before shaking her head. "Not yet — I just love touching you."

"Do you? These last four months would say otherwise."

The priestess cringed and moved beside me, an apologetic look in her eyes. "I know, and I'm sorry — and I know that means nothing, but it's true! I'm just- I'm so close!"

"Mira," I sighed, working on the dough. "I know you're close, but you made a promise."

"...You're right. I made a promise, and I haven't been keeping it lately. I apologize for that. That ends- Hey!" Miranda frowned when I jerked my arm away from her hand. "That ends tonight and never happens again. I swear on Eva."

'On Eva?!' My eyes widened as she took over, moving out of her way. '...Then she's serious about feeling bad and wanting to change.' I smiled and kissed her cheek after getting over my shock, giggling as I helped her. 'Filled peach- the nerve of her! I was doing something sweet and romantic-.'

'I can read your thoughts,' Miranda smirked after gently nudging me. 'You thought the same when you thought about making the cookies.'

'...You can't prove that! You weren't here!'

'That's proof enough.'

"Listen here, Tax Evader," I huffed, getting cut off with a kiss.

I smiled into the kiss, giggling when I stopped her hands from roaming my body. "You know I'd love to continue this, but we need to put the cookies in the oven and eat dinner before it gets cold."

Miranda groaned dramatically but moved away. "You're a cruel mistress."

"If I were cruel, I'd tell you what I'm wearing under this dress."

"...What are you wearing underneath it?"

I smirked as I put the cookies in the oven, purposefully pressing into her hips. "Oh, nothing, don't worry about it."

Miranda groaned and let her hands smooth over my ass, a purr leaving her when I stood up. I turned my head and kissed her cheek, giggling at the lust in her eyes. 'So easy to rile up.' When I reached for the bowls of soup, Miranda kissed my temple and whispered that she'd get the wine, walking away a second later. I walked to the table and set the bowls down, taking my seat while waiting for her.

A smile spread across my face when Miranda returned and stole a quick kiss from me, pouring our glasses of wine a second later. I motioned to her seat, crossing one leg over the other as she took her spot. I reached for my glass and sipped my wine, watching her take the first spoonful of her soup. 'Please taste good. I spent all day trying to get this right.'

Miranda hummed in approval as she took another spoonful. "Delicious."

"Thank fuck," I sighed in relief. "Do you know how many times I messed it up?!"

"Baby," Miranda laughed and leaned over, pecking my lips. "First time cooking in a while?"

"You do most of the cooking!"

"That's because I love cooking for you."

"Let me cook with you occasionally," I pouted. "Please?"

"Only because you look so cute when you pout," Miranda hummed before leaning back in her seat. "And it would give us more time together."

"Speaking of more time together," I hummed and shifted my body to face her better. "I was thinking we could take a vacation — get away from the village."

"...It has been a while since you left the village. Where would you like to go? We can go anywhere, any time you want."

"Hmm, anywhere, any time? I need time to think about that."

"Well, take all the time you need, my love," Miranda hummed and sipped her wine. "It'll give me time to plan dates during those times too."

As we ate, Miranda caught me up on her research — how she planned to expand her gift across seas. 'She's this desperate to get Eva back? Oh, my Crow. No wonder she's been working overtime — trying to get samples from people worldwide to find the best matches can't be easy.' Miranda stopped her story when the timer went off in the kitchen, letting me stand from my seat and walk in.

Once in the kitchen, I grabbed an oven mitt and took the cookies out, humming as I set them on the stovetop. I returned to the dining room, letting the cookies cool while walking back to Miranda. My arms wrapped around the priestess's neck while I kissed her cheek, stopping behind her before looking at my engagement ring. Miranda hummed and smiled, grabbing my hand before moving it to her lips, letting her kiss my ring.

"...I still think I could've found a shinier one."

"Mira!" I laughed and buried my face in her neck. "This one's perfect. Stop worrying so much."

"I just- I want our family to be perfect," Miranda hummed and held my arms close. "So I need to ensure you're happy with everything too."

"...My Crow," I cooed, sliding into her lap as she leaned back in her seat. "I am happy with everything. How long have we been together now?"

"Since I found the Cadou."

"And look at all we've accomplished. The jewel for my ring is the least of our concerns — getting a ring wasn't even on my mind. Most of the village assumed we were married, and it'll be real soon."

"But-!"

"Mira, I'm not going anywhere. We're getting Eva back, and then we'll be a big, happy family."

"...Promise?" My heart melted at the pleading look in Miranda's sky-blue eyes and her pout.

I cupped her cheeks and smiled, nuzzling our noses together. "I swear on everything; we'll have our dream. Once we find a suitable host, the wait will be over, and we can thrive again. Our village can thrive."

Miranda grabbed our glasses and handed me mine, wrapping her free arm around my waist as we lifted our glasses. "To our dream."

"To our family."
