So its been on my mind for a while.
But Raven Branwen uses a ninjato.
A ninjato is alternatively known as a shinobigatana and as you can probably guess, was used by shinobi.
Shinobi were great assassins. So, disregarding the fact she uses a weapon meant for assassination in direct combat, if you use any other sword, you out range her.
A tanto is 15-30cm long.
A ninjato is 46cm.
A wakizashi is 30-60cm
A katana is 60cm
A tachi is around 80cm.
A nodachi is 90cm.
Most swords, have greater reach than a ninjato.
And this isn't even including the frames of most fighters.
So, Raven is around 5ft 11 to 6ft. Quite tall for a woman, but the average male height in the US is 5ft 9.
Meaning, most men have slightly shorter range than her but due to how fucking stupid Raven is, they can quite easily outrange her by using any sword longer than hers. Ideally a tachi or Katana.
Which puts her at a disadvantage.
This isn't even accounting for semblance usage in battle.
Ravens semblance is unusable in combat.
Whereas most huntsman as we saw in the show, had combat based semblances.
