Recap:

There was still no sign of Lady when we finally exited the hallway leading into the house from the garage and the silence was deafening. With an arm around my waist, Jason steered me to the sofa. "Sit down and rest while I go looking for Lady." He ordered and turned around but the sound of a massive boom which shook the house, stopped him dead in his tracks.

In full panic mode, Jason turned back to me and hurriedly pulled me out of my seat. With quick steps, he led us out the front door and some distance away before he grabbed me by the shoulders. "Stay here no matter what happens," Then he turned and ran back into the house.

It felt like hours, though it was about ten minutes before Jason came back out carrying two lawn chairs. "I need you to have a seat," Jason advised once he'd opened and set down the chairs.

Seeing the look on his face, I quietly sat down and watched as he squatted down in front of me. "I found Lady," Jason told me as he gently took my hands in his. "I'm sorry babe, she's dead." All I could do was stare at him in disbelief.

"How?" Was the only words I could utter. I couldn't understand since Lady has always been healthy and never suffered from any serious medical issues. How could she be gone?

"All I can say," Jason's brow was furrowed and there was a perplexed, though disturbed look in his eyes. "Is that it was an unnatural death, disturbing even." Jason cleared his throat before continuing. "I called Marie to take you out for a late lunch while I bury Lady, alright?" Mutely I nodded. I had yet to accept the reality that a member of our family, just months older than Timmy, was forever gone.

All had been strangely quiet until about a week later. Jason had been sleeping for over an hour when I finally called it a night and climbed into bed. I'd been laying in bed for no more than five minutes when I experienced the sensation of falling and felt the bed start to shake violently. The movement was so violent that Jason came awake and sat up in bed with a disturbed look.

Just then a horrible shrieking filled the room. It sounded like hundreds of voices merged in a symphony of anger and misery. The sound was so loud that it hurt and I had to cover my ears. The shrieking and bed shaking went on undisturbed for a good three minutes before everything came to a sudden stop, leaving the room in silence for a few heartbeats.

Suddenly there came growling and snarling from somewhere nearby. For a moment I thought Lady had gotten out of our room, but then I remembered she was dead and buried in the backyard. Confused, yet alarmed, I was in the process of climbing out of bed when I felt the bed shift as Jason jumped out of bed.

"Stay here," Jason abruptly ordered as he raced out of our room.

Knowing he was acting this way because he was worried I would get hurt, I ignored his command and proceeded to follow him out. Once in the hall, we realized the ruckus was coming from the nursery. Jason opened Timmy's bedroom door to grab a wooden baseball bat. Seeing he was still asleep and well had me breathing a sigh of relief as Jason closed his door.

"What did I say, Amy?" Jason growled when he turned around and saw me a couple of steps behind him.

"I know what you said," I inform him in a stubborn tone. "But I want to know what's going on as much as you do!"

"Fine," He sighs defeatedly. "Just stay behind me and do as I say, ok?" I simply nodded and followed behind him as we made our way to the nursery room door.

Jason took a deep, steadying breath and tightened his grip on the bat in his left hand before throwing the door wide open. We were unprepared for the sight that met our disbelieving eyes. In the middle of the room stood the silhouette of someone with their back to us. Their hair was a mass of flames that danced and writhed about their head, illuminating the room with a reddish-orange glow.

This being seemed unaware of our presence for the time being. It held its arms above its head as it growled, snarled, and grunted while every available item in the room floated in the air, or orbited around it. There was the occasional simultaneous, burst of lights, like small explosions, in different areas of the room.

A wailing, shrieking sound emanated from the being and toys flew into a wall, breaking into pieces upon impact. Then this person-like creature swiped at anything that remained unbroken, with sharp, talon-like nails. Sounds of satisfaction came from it as it viewed the chaos it was creating in the small room.

The shock of the situation caused Jason to drop the bat, which made a loud thud on the hardwood floor. The disturbance drew the attention of the being in the nursery, causing it to whip around and look at us through red, glowing eyes filled with evil hatred. Its body was clothed in a tattered and dingy, blood-stained white dress.

As we stared at it horrified, the hag-like creature lunged at us making crazy swiping motions with its outstretched hands. Coming out of his stupor, Jason quickly pulled the door shut before the hag could reach us and held the door closed as the creature pounded on the door for long moments before a deafening silence descended around us.

Picking up the bat, Jason turned to look at me and his eyes became wide with horror and fear. The bat hit the ground before he swept me up in his arms and practically ran to our room. "What are you doing?" I ask him.

I was surprised at how he was acting until I noticed how he was trembling as he placed me on the bed and ran into the bathroom. I heard the water running in the sink, then silence as it was cut off. Jason hurried to my side and began to wipe my cheek with a moist washcloth.

"Does it hurt?" He asked and I looked at him confused.

"No, why would you, wiping my face hurt?" I asked.

Pulling the cloth away, he showed it to me. "Because you have a long scratch on your cheek," He informed me. The blood on the wet cloth showed he wasn't joking and I was truly shocked.

That proved to be the final straw for Jason. He'd had his fair share of experiences since we'd moved in but he'd kept them to himself because, for one thing, he couldn't believe they were supernatural and two, no one had been hurt. But when I got scratched even though the hag had never come close enough to touch me, it was a game changer.

It's been six months since we left the house and are currently living in a cramped two-bedroom apartment. Our two-month-old baby girl will have to share a room with Timmy until we find a bigger place. For now, we keep her crib in our room. Once she starts sleeping through the night, we will move her in with Timmy.

A couple of months after we moved out, I found out via the internet that fifteen years ago the house was owned by a childless couple. The husband was an abusive alcoholic with a mean temper. The wife was four months pregnant when during a drunken stupor, the husband beat his wife and unborn child, to death.

I still remember that last night in the house. Once Jason was satisfied he'd cleaned the scratch properly, he told me to get dressed and pack a few outfits for myself and Timmy. He grabbed some of his clothes and threw them in a plastic bag once he was dressed, then carried our things out to his car.

We left that night and he only came back the next day with a friend to pick up my car and my office equipment. Pretty much everything else we own still sits in that house, we feared that taking anything else out of the house might cause that hag-like creature to follow us.

But what worries me a lot, is that I think it followed us anyway. For nearly a week we've been hearing low growling and scratching coming from underneath our bed...
