Damien, please come back to me.

The next day

"Do you, Princess Emma, take Eric Thompson to be your beloved soulmate, to love and cherish him for the rest of eternity?"

Even from the distance, I could see Emma's eyes blink with unshed tears that shone reflecting the dim light provided by the chandelier. She held onto Eric's hands with both of hers, as if she might collapse from happiness if she didn't have the extra support.

"Of course I do," she finally released the breath that I knew she had been holding.

My best friend was the most beautiful bride. I, along with a few other helpers, spent the entire day making sure she looked nothing less than an angel for her big day.

She told me the story of how she had decided to custom make her dress after trying on a million different ones at the boutique. The designer had spent two whole months perfecting the design and fabric to her standards.

Instead of a traditional white, she wore a baby blue gown that twirled with her every movement. The top of the dress hugged her bust and waist before breaking apart in various different directions and landing flawlessly at her feet. The glass-like heels she wore were barely visible since the dress was so long, sweeping the floor behind her.

Her veil matched the color of her dress, the thin fabric flaunting her blond hair which was half braided and curled at the bottom. Tiny pearls were situated between her braid giving her hair a delicate and chic look.

Emma looked like a true princess today, right out of a fairytale.

She deserved her happily ever after more than anyone I knew.

I couldn't believe that the chaos of pre-wedding preparations and a turmoil of other events have led to this beautiful moment.

"Do you, Eric Thompson, take Princess Emma Knight to be your beloved soulmate, to love and cherish her for the rest of eternity?"

It was Eric's turn to answer and of course he said, "I do."

"I know pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."

The crowd didn't even wait for the officiant to finish before it went wild. Rounds of cheer and hoots erupted throughout the room as Eric dipped Emma and placed a long-lasting kiss on her lips.

I wish Damien was here to witness this.

Wait.

Right as I thought about him, something told me to turn around.

Call it instincts or an unknown force that made me turn my head and scan the back of the room.

There were numerous people clapping and standing right beside their seats in the venue.

I recognized some council members, some of the other royals. Men and women with no children in sight.

My eyes drifted to the center near the entrance, and there he was.

Damien.

His face was expressionless as he took a step forward. The first thing that I noticed were his glasses. He never wore glasses before, since when did vampires have a low eyesight?

Wasn't the whole point of being a vampire enhanced visions and hearing?

The people must've noticed his powerful presence, being vampires and all. Because every set of eyes turned to look back at him as he continued to walk forward.
