Chapter 2: Witches before Wizards

G-PR10E: "Greetings, Player. I am G-PR10E, at your service."

She, once again, did a bow, begrudgingly so, as Y/N stood there with stars in his eyes. The maid stood back straight and threw the boy a glare.

G-PR10E: "I am sure you have a looooot of questions, so out with it. I don't want to waste any more of my time."

Y/N: "Oh, right! How are you a girl? WHY are you a girl? What's the system update? Why is the room empty?"

G-PR10E: "I'm already regretting this..."

As Y/N mindlessly listed off endless questions, the maid groaned and pinched the bridge of her nose. She was so done with this kid already. Just to shut him up, she clapped her hands together, snapping him out of his rant.

G-PR10E: "One. Question. At a time. Capiche?"

Y/N nodded quickly as the maid motioned him to go ahead.

Y/N: "Why are you a girl?"

G-PR10E: "Because."

Y/N: "Why is your name PR... that?"

G-PR10E: "It's my designation in the system. Every guide has it's own unique designation."

Y/N: "But isn't it hard to greet everyone that way?"

G-PR10E: "You can just keep calling me guide for what I care."

Y/N: "Can I call you Annie instead?"

G-PR10E: "No."

Y/N: "What about Ann?"

G-PR10E: "How about you stop being annoying and wasting my time?"

Y/N: "Okay, Annie!"

The maid's, now dubbed Annie, eye twitches in annoyance, but she doesn't voice it. She takes a deep breath instead and crosses her arms with a huff.

Annie: "Look Player, let's forget the questions and let me explain the update, okay?"

Y/N: "Oh, yes! The update! Uh, sure, please explain."

Annie sighed heavily and waved her hand in a wiping motion, pulling up what Y/N could only describe as his status screen. But it was completely different from before. For starters, the screen was smaller, and there were a lot less buttons. Like, a WHOLE lot less of them. His level also went back to 1, and there aren't any spell slots anymore!

Annie: "This is the newest System model. It has been simplified and made easier to grasp. The Developers thought it was too... burdensome before, so adjustments were made. Also, all levels, spells and items have been deleted. You can cry about it if you want."

Y/N: "What about the egg? Or the Running Shoes?"

Annie looked to the side where Y/N pointed at and looked at the spider egg that was still laying there, untouched and not deleted. Then at his shoes which were still the same Running Shoes as before. Ever since Y/N got them, they've been the only shoes he wore.

Annie: "I will explain that later since there are more important things to show you. Come along now, Player."

Annie turned around and didn't wait for Y/N as she stepped out the door. Y/N took a few seconds to realize before he too followed the maid out the door. He wasn't prepared for what he saw next. A whole town stretched around him with dozens of small one story houses made of wood. The boy looked around in awe at the sight of the medieval style town in was standing on. It was like out of a fantasy anime where the protagonist gets hit by a truck.
