The door creaked open, revealing the dimly lit interior of Ushijima's house.

It was late, almost midnight. His house was simple yet inviting. It felt clean with minimalist decor, something that suit him really.

He remained silent, allowing her the space to process the overwhelming moment.

He observed her as she took in her surroundings, her eyes scanning the place with a curious and almost childlike fascination. The mix of emotions was evident on her face, a bittersweet combination of nostalgia and longing.

She would have been genuinely happy to be there under completely different circumstances.

She felt quite weird as she hadn't cried. Or atleast not yet.

He welcomed her upstairs and opened the door where his room was. "My room."

She looked around, as a soft smile posed on her lips.

His room was simple yet cozy, the walls were adorned with a few framed photographs and posters, showcasing his love for volleyball and the places he had visited. The bed, neatly made, sat against one corner. A small desk held a few books and a laptop.

She walked into it and sat on the bed, a little shy after all. She looked at him still standing on the door frame.

"So this is your room?" She sighed, it was the first word after the fight.

"Yes."

She licked her lips a little uneasy, the fact of being there made her even more nervous.

"Come sit" She patted the bed.

He did as she said, settling down next to her and directing his gaze towards her, observing her closely.

It was dark but she could feel his green eyes on her, she blushed. "Is it okay if I stay here?"

"I don't mind."

"Yeah.." She smirked at him. "I mean for you mom."

His response was calm and matter-of-fact. "She's not here for the week. She's on a business trip."

Her eyes narrowed slightly, curiosity getting the better of her. "Does she travel a lot?"

Ushijima nodded. "Most of the time."

"And your dad?"

"My parents got divorced when I was young. He is overseas."

She also knew he didn't had any siblings. She thought for a minute, she had a strong bond with her parents and her older sister, as well as her close relationship with Takeru.

And Toruu...

She looked at him, a hint of sympathy in her eyes. "I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been tough."

Ushijima nodded, his gaze momentarily distant. "I've come to accept it."

She couldn't help but notice the strength in his voice. "You've become so strong, Ushijima." She whispered so low that he was unable to hear her. "I don't know how you do it."

"What?"

...

"SO...this do you have some old shirt and shorts or something?"

It was even worse than Takeru.

She looked like an elementary boy with no sense of style, clad in oversized shorts and a T-shirt that must have belonged to him when he was thirteen. Standing there, like the emoji, she couldn't help but feel utterly unattractive.

"Wakatoshi, I look terrible," she admitted.

He paused in his task of fixing the sheets, turning to her with a tender smile. Gently, he reached out and brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "You look beautiful, ___," he said softly, his voice full with sincerity.

Her heart raced in her chest, threatening to burst. Her cheeks blazed with a deep blush, and she quickly turned away, desperately seeking to change the conversation. "It's late, isn't it? I'm really tired!"

She swiftly switched off the lights, seeking solace in the darkness as she buried her face in the sheets.

The room fell into a hushed stillness, but he remained seated on the edge of the bed, facing her. His fingers tenderly traced patterns through her hair, a gentle reminder of his presence.

As her mind raced, a small realization clicked within her. With a hesitant tone, she turned to him and asked, "Wakatoshi, where will you be sleeping tonight?"

He replied calmly, "I'll be in my mother's room. Wake me up if you need anything." He leaned down and placed a tender kiss on her forehead before standing up and making his way towards the door.

"Wait!" A surge of courage welled up within her, and she hesitantly spoke her thoughts. "Can you stay with me? Please?" Her voice carried a mixture of shyness and vulnerability.

He nodded and went to her, immediately his arm wrapped around her in a soft but firmly manner, she found herself nestled in the comfort of his chest, noticing something she couldnt see, but feel.

"You know," she whispered softly, her voice tinged with a hint of mischief, "I think you have bigger boobs than me."

They both burst into laughter, the sound filling the room with warmth. It was the first time she heard him laughing, it was the most beautiful sound and she wanted to keep hearing it...

But as the laughter subsided, the tears welled up in her eyes, riding down her cheeks. The weight of her emotions became too much to bear, and she cried, her sobs wracking her entire body.

Ushijima held her tightly, not saying a word. Making her know that he was here for her.

In that moment and always.
