Chapter 1: A Lying Witch and a Warden

Y/N chuckled at his friend's enthusiasm, a sound that never failed to make Luz's heart flutter in happiness and make her smile wider. Suddenly, an arm draped itself over Y/N and Luz's shoulders as Lucia leaned down to their height.

Lucia: "How are my favorite chaparritos doing today?"

Luz pouted while Y/N looked at her in confusion.

Luz: "I'm not short..."

Lucia: "Sure you aren't, hermanita."

Lucia laughed and walked in front of them, looking behind her shoulder.

Lucia: "You two coming or what?"

Y/N didn't waste more time and followed the older girl inside as Luz did the same, setting herself on Y/N's right while Lucia walked on his left. The boy noticed Luz had a box that occasionally let out hisses from within, so he raised an eyebrow and pointed at it.

Y/N: "Why do you have a box?"

Luz raises it a bit, grinning at Y/N while Lucia rolls her eyes, trying not to laugh.

Luz: "It's for my book report!"

Unfortunately, Y/N used his bandaged hand to point at the box, making Luz stop and stare with a worried expression.

Luz: "Y/N, what happened to your hand?"

Y/N: "Oh, I uh... I just got bit by a dog I tried to pet. It was a small dog, so it doesn't hurt too much."

But Luz wasn't having any of it as she pushed the box onto her sister who held onto it, confused, and then grabbed Y/N's hand gently to inspect it.

Luz: "Are you sure? Does it hurt? Do you need to go to the infirmary? Do you need me to kiss it better?"

Lucia choked on air from Luz's last question, almost dropping the box.

Y/N: "Don't worry, I'm fine. See?"

He moved his hand, clenching his fist to demonstrate. Luz sighed in relief that her friend was alright.

Luz: "Okay, good. But don't try to pet another dog you don't know, okay?"

Y/N: "Alright?"

Luz: "Good!"

Y/N failed to note the slight protective tone Luz's words carried and just brushed it off. Lucia, on the other 'hand' -badum tss- did notice it and smirked. She couldn't help but tease her sister some more, so she  leaned down and gave Y/N a flirtatious look.

Lucia: "Hey, Y/N. How about me and you go out on a DATE later today. To celebrate the end of school."

She made sure to say the word date loud enough to get a few stares, but most importantly, for Luz to hear. And hear she did, as she slowly turned around with an unreadable expression and marched back to them, grabbed Y/N by the arm, and pulled him with her without saying a word. People around them watched the group as Lucia let out a laugh. Luz ignored them all and just kept pulling Y/N along, who was very confused but didn't voice it, instead he just walked along so he wouldn't trip from being pulled. Lucia shook her head in amusement and started following them. They soon split up, Lucia going one way to her class and Luz and Y/N going to theirs. This made Luz release a breath she didn't know she was holding and, speaking of holding, let go of Y/N with a slight red tint to her cheeks. She didn't know why it bothered her so much about Lucia- scratch that, anyone taking Y/N out on a date. She wasn't jealous, was she? No, of course not. Y/N's a friend, her best friend. She can't be feeling jealous about sharing her best friend's attention.
