Chapter 1: A Lying Witch and a Warden

Start from the beginning

Manny: "But you have to be strong. You know why?"

Y/N: "Why?"

Manny: "Because women want strong men! When you start dating my daughters, you need to be strong enough to protect them- oof!"

Manny's ramblings were stopped by Camila chopping up upside the head to prevent him from saying things he shouldn't. Luz was tomato red, and even Lucia had some red on her cheeks but was looking the other way so nobody saw it.

Camila: "Ay, caramba. Stop saying nonsense."

Manny pouted as he rubbed his head.

Manny: "Alright, alright. But seriously kid. Don't worry about anything."

He knelt down and placed his hands on Y/N's shoulders.

Manny: "Trust me. No matter what happens, you'll always pull through in the end. You're stronger than you think."

The group stood there, wondering why the mood got so serious now, and why Manny was saying those words to Y/N. He didn't have to spend summer somewhere he didn't want, so why was he the one getting the pep talk?

Luz: "Mom, dad, do we really have to go?"

Camila: "Yes, mija. I'm sorry, but your fantasy world is holding you back."

Y/N flinched, but went unnoticed by the Nocedas.

Camila: "Do you have any friends other than Y/N? Not drawn, imaginary or reptilian."

Luz just looked down in sadness and started walking to a nearby trashcan, holding her Azura book.

Camila: "Summer camp is a chance to make new friends, but you have to try. Can you do that?"

Luz: "Yes mom."

She gently placed the book on top of all the trash. Meanwhile, Manny frowned and shook his head. Camila's phone started ringing, the woman pulling it out and checking to see it was a call from work.

Camila: "Oh, I gotta go to work."

She kissed both her daughter repeatedly.

Camila: "Your buses are arriving soon. Text me when you two get there. Cuídate mucho mi hijas. ¡Qué te vaya bien!"

Manny: "Be good kids."

Lucia: "Bye, mom, dad."

Both adults walked away, Manny getting in his police car as his wife took the passenger seat and drove off. As soon as they were gone, though, Luz started scavenging the trash can.

Luz: "Where is it? Where is it?"

Y/N: "Why are you inside the trash?"

Luz: "I can't find my book!"

Lucia: "Didn't know owls liked trash."

A sudden hotting stopped Luz from her dumpster diving and caused her to turn to a tiny owl, carrying a bag in it's beak with her Azura book sticking out. The owl began hopping away once it was noticed.

Luz: "Tiny trash thief!"

Luz ran after it, leaving Lucia and Y/N to watch. Lucia looked down at him, shrugged, and then hoisted him over her shoulder. He just let her, already used to being carried. Lucia began running after her sister.

Lucia: "Better than going to boot camp."

For some reason, the tiny owl was faster at hopping than any of the humans were at running, so it managed to escape inside a very old looking house in the forest. The group stopped, Lucia placed Y/N down, and then decided to all head inside. Y/N got a sense of deja vu when he felt like he just passed through the door, like the first time he stepped inside a dungeon. He felt like he was floating for a second, then it stopped and he found himself, along with Luz and Lucia, inside a tent filled with odd trinkets. Judging by her faces, they hadn't noticed anything different.
