A strange sense of consciousness confirmed that this dream was of one of my memories.
Here I sat, huddled in the corner of the room and behind stacks of empty boxes. My aunt and mom were both calling me from behind the door.
It didn't take long for me to remember exactly which memory this was.
Not long before this, I had been nearly discovered because I sided my powers to save a kitten from oncoming traffic. Wildly, I ran home and locked myself in my room, terrified that I was going to be taken away.
That day never came.
I already knew that I wasn't going to like this dream.
My mother kept pleading and jingling the door handle, beside herself because I couldn't raise my voice to speak or move my legs to open the door.
Stupefied with terror.
But as sentient as I felt, that terror was all but gone; merely left to experience this imagination through the shell of my younger self.
And when I thought that this was going to last before, I had been proven wrong when suddenly all went silent.
Finally, I could move.
But the only thing that prompted me to was the sight of something softly glowing and pale in the corner of my peripheral.
I turned to look at the glowing figure in the other corner of my room.
My eyes widened.
It was... a man. Quite pale. His body had such a strange glow, and not only that, but he was floating too!
His hair was incredibly long and such a striking shade of red. But his face was blurred. I couldn't make out any of the lines on his face, expect for the ghostly white garments of his body and the hand he began to lift.
But just like that, the memory turned to blackness, and my true consciousness returned.

The light that shined in through my eyelids was bright enough that I found myself tossing once or twice where I lay before finally opening my eyes.
A blank ceiling was the only thing greeting my sight.
My body felt like it was made of lead, and just as soon as I had processed where I was, an onrush of realization and memories of what had landed me here flooded my brain with a dull headache.
"Agh..." I reached a heavy hand to my head, massaging at my temples vigorously.
My mouth felt as dry as paper. My voice sounded impossibly unused.
Discomfort swelled in my chest. My hair felt like a mess too.
How long was I out?
No, wait, where's some water? I can't even swallow—
"Finally awake?" A familiar deep voice said from somewhere by my feet. Muffled, if anything. Now that I actually focused on it, I could hear the faint sound of chewing, not to mention the small crackle of a plastic wrapper.
A strange sense of relief mixed with my earlier discomfort when I realized he was there.
"Yeah..." my voice was going to take awhile before it would sound anything aside from sleep deprived.
Mustering my wit and traces of strength, I moved my arms back to push myself up. My arms stung like a million needles induced with the fiery flame of hell.
