CHAPTER 17: MY MISTAKE : PART 1

JIWOO'S POV:

.

.

.

"........."

"I'm sorry, sir. I was just... really worried when I said that."

In front of me, Kayden stood on a purposefully placed stool in the center of the room, looking out the window with his back turned to me.

Behind him, I kneeled at somewhat of a distance.

He remained silent.

"...I said that because I thought you had left without saying..." I gulped. "Goodbye first."

"I promise it won't happen again."

His silence was making me more nervous than I already was.

"Please forgive me." I bowed my head and whimpered.

With a dramatic sigh, he turned his head just slightly to look in my direction, but not exactly at me with a wave of his paw.

"That's enough, I understand." his voice was gruff like he had to force the sound from his throat.

"Do you forgive me?"

"...There's nothing to forgive. Forget it, I'm past it now," he was clearly still annoyed, but regardless, I was still happy.

Perhaps some time to dramatically gaze out the window and into the sky in silence with a desperate Jiwoo kneeling behind him was all he needed to soothe his nerves.

I fought the urge to smile.

"Did my... shouting interrupt your... business in the bathroom—"

He whipped his head around indignantly, "SHUT IT."

He swiftly took hold of the collar of my shirt and raised his paw like he was about to pounce.

It would have been cute if it weren't for the sinking feeling in my stomach.

I put my hands up apologetically and squirmed.

"I'm sorry— I'm sorry!"

His fist shook with barely held restraint as he muttered something under his breath.

Timidly, I spoke again, "Uhm... Mr. Kayden, could you... Put your paw down...?"

He sucked his teeth and glared at me before loosening his grip.

Aww.

"Anyway. I'm glad you're still here." I finally allowed myself to smile.

His eyebrows furrowed as something unidentifiable glinted in his big green eyes. Ultimately, he pulled away and averted his gaze once more. "...Weirdo."

He's so cute. If only he would let me cuddle him...

Something in my chest tightened as I watched him pout.

Interrupting my thoughts, an unfamiliar sound much like fabric scraping sounded to my left.

I turned to look and noticed the gray cat shifting from where he lay. He was awake.

"Mr. Kayden! The cat is awake!"

The cat, hearing my voice turned his head abruptly just to see Kayden and I staring back at him.
