KANG HA-EUN'S POV:

"I sent the messages. Will that be all... Sister?"

Jiwoo Seo's mother stepped away and crossed her arms. Or rather...

"Or should I say... Aziel?"

He smiled. The light fair skin of my sister tore away with a bright flash of numen, revealing the mischievous awakened one I knew as Aziel.

His hair was short and braided, as well as pale green in hue. His skin was covered in scars, and his left eye had been replaced with some kind of mechanism.

Aziel leaned against the desk beside me and yawned, "No, unfortunately, you're not done yet... she will be keeping you for a while longer."

"Who is she?" I leaned back in my seat and closed the laptop lid, sparing a demeaning glare at the heedless man beside me.

His carefree smile went strained, but his voice never wavered, "Oh, come on. Need I remind you?"

He leaned down to whisper in my ear, "Number Zero. She has a task for you."

Zero. That's right... she's the one who orchestrated this whole thing, huh?

Rumors say she's so utterly terrifying that even her closest, most maniacal subordinates are terrified of her because of her... methods.

I've also heard a thing or two about her ability. It's quite interesting...

"And what's this so-called task?" the air seemed to have dropped by ten degrees after he mentioned her. Only now had I noticed the sudden tension.

In all honesty, this whole situation was tense.

I had recently found out that my niece was now befriended by the man we meant for her to kill.

The plans went to shit though, mostly because number Zero came onto the scene, for whose reason is still unknown.

After being nearly killed, I found myself strapped to a table and greeted by the man who almost killed me. Apparently, Zero had done something with my wounds while I was unconscious and decided I would be of use to her.

I couldn't begin to wonder why.

I didn't even know my niece was involved with Kayden until Aziel showed me several recordings and asked me to make up a story about my disappearance.

A group of awakened ones had paid me, a mercenary, beforehand to give my niece to them so that they could develop her to defeat the infamous lunatic. Apparently, they had personal grudges against him.

Did I have anything personal against him? To put it bluntly, no. But I honestly couldn't care less if he were to be killed or not.

But unfortunately, it seems that my niece may or may not value him. And if that's the case, then it would be impossible to use her to kill him...

Thus their plan meant nothing to me anymore.

As far as I knew, they were all dead now. And of course, I had more pressing matters to deal with as of now, and a new set of people willing to hire me.
