"Come at me."

Fine... I'll get this over with fast with my speed.

Lunging forward with a kickstart of numen, I raised my fist to strike his jaw, but merely inches away, he twisted to the side with his own dumbfounding speed.

—He dodged?

His hands were still in his pockets.

Quick to recover, I rounded a kick to the side with increased speed, and attacked with another punch at the failure of my last attempt.

Again, I lunged forward to round another strike and swung a series of punches to no success.

How is he dodging them all!?

Tuning to my awakened core, I grasped what I could of my numen in the moment and boosted my speed further for my next round of attacks.

A right cross to his jaw. A jab to his jaw and another rear hook to his diaphragm. All were dodged, but despite the fact, I raised my fist again to aim for his neck, but to my shock, in the nick of time he caught my hand with his own.

After a seemingly long moment of current positions held, he scoffed softly, "I think you misunderstood what I meant..."

"...What—"

With speed that rivaled my own, his fist shoved deep into my stomach to where I could feel my ribs press inward. Practically crumbling to my knees from the loss of air and wave of nausea, I clutched my stomach and coughed at the painful intakes of air.

"I said, try your best." He stared down at me. His figure and shadow loomed high over me.

"Don't hold back like you've done with others."

I had yet to look up and see his face.

Taking my silence as confusion, he added, "you still don't get it, do you?"

"Use your true awakened abilities to fight me."

He knows—!?

I jumped back with a subtle boost of speed, still at my knees but forcing myself to stand.

"Don't be so surprised. I heard from Ihyuk who you really were."

Ihyuk? The one who came looking for me the other day?

Does that mean this guy has something to do with him or Shinwha?

I took a weak step backward, clutching my fists and preparing for any sudden attack.

"I'm an awakened one just like you. I'm in the same group as Ihyuk. So go ahead and give me your best shot." He smiled, dangerously.

"Hold on..." I swiftly added, "Ihyuk seemed like he wanted to help me. But why do you want to fight me? Was he lying?"

"No... don't get me wrong, this is just to sort out ranks."

"Ranks?" I frowned.

"You didn't find out until recently that you were awakened. When a new awakened one is discovered, sorting out ranks comes next."
