CHAPTER 26: INJURED HANDS

Start from the beginning

And I'm not too surprised by that, not really. I thought she would have, and when she didn't, I was impressed. But just because she didn't crack under that pressure doesn't mean she wouldn't crack under harder pressure.

And judging by this burning curiosity I felt, I figured that I would be the one to induce such pressure.

Nice kids bother me anyway; they remind me of more than a few people I've met over the course of my life and hated them equally for their fake attitudes.

Jiwoo is just another, and now that I've said all these things and contemplated on them more, I'm determined to rip off that nice facade and ruin it. Whether it be through battle or interaction, I'll find a way to do it, whether Jiyoung or Ihyuk like it or not.

Besides, I have nothing better to do, and I haven't had anything better to do in a long time anyway, so I'll just do something that I find fun.

"Hey, Jisuk!" An annoyingly familiar voice called out from somewhere behind me.

In a matter of milliseconds, my solitude was crushed.

What the hell are they doing here?

Sighing deeply, I glanced behind me to find three of my henchmen. Snake boy, thug number two, and thug number three.

No, like seriously, what are their names again? I can't remember.

I squinted at their name tags; Lee Minjun, Gu Beom-seok, and Choi Dae-ho

Now that I think about it, they just leached onto me one day when I came to school, I don't even think we exchanged names.

They all strolled closer.

"She didn't show up again."

"Just how hard did you go on her?"

"Did she have to go to the hospital or something? Did you mess up her leg more?" The anticipation in which that was said was disgusting.

I wouldn't have even fought her if she wasn't awakened. Did they seriously think I was gonna re-injure an ordinary girl's already injured leg just out of spite?

They continued their musings without my reply. Soon, the voices had faded away and all I could do was stare into the bleak distance ahead.

KAYDEN'S POV:

"I'm exhausted!" Jiwoo plopped down onto the ground with a long sigh, smiling like a child nonetheless.

The combination of exhaustion and bubbly smiles was both strange and endearing at the same time.

"You're tired already?"

"A little... but don't you think I've gotten better? I definitely feel different!" She motioned dramatically with her hands as she stayed on the floor.

Hmm... "Don't be silly. It's only been about a week."

"Seriously!" She sat up quickly and not without a wince, "I really do feel different. I feel my numen flowing more than before."

"Sure you do. You just started out as a spring chicken and now here you are after almost two weeks of strength and numen training. That part I do understand, but..." I poked her arm, "don't be so content."

She blinked, dumbly, before realization visibly set in. "I'm not! Nope! Not even a little!" And demonstrated a stifling stretch.

I smiled a little. "That's the spirit. You still have a long way to go and you're still weak, so let's work on that. 'Kay?"
