Swept Under the Rug
Cravings are an illusion made by the mind.
They are easily ignored if forced
from the forefront of your thoughts.
Shoving unpleasant things under the rug
is the perfect way to hide them from a guest.
But, still, your house is filthy
within the cracks and crevices,
no matter how clean it appears to be.
I close my eyes and count to ten.
Erase the viciousness that bared its teeth.
Engaged it and caged it, threw it down
and laughed at it. When it got worn out
we ate it.
