CHAPTER 102

Rod: Hindi bata? I'm still your baby kaya (whispered)

Imee: What?!

Rod: W-wala, love (shook his head) Ang sabi ko I missed you too.

Rod kissed my forehead at agad ulit niya akong niyakap. I admit, yung lungkot at disappointment na nararamdaman ko kanina eh unti-unting nabawasan coz he's with me....My tahanan is with me.

Rod: So what happen, love?

Imee: I failed today, love (pulled out from the hug and look at Rod)

Rod: What do you mean failed naman? Eh ang galing mo kayang Doctor. Tsaka ikaw nga ang palaging — (didn't continue his words coz Imee speak up)

Imee: Namatayan ako ng pasyente.

Rod: W-what?

Imee: See! (Distance herself and look away) You're disappointed na (teary eye)

Rod: Of course not! Wala sa vocabulary ko ang ma-disappointed sayo, Mrs. Laurel, okay? Besides it's normal for us to fail naman so okay lang yan, love. Ang mahalaga ginawa mo ang lahat to save your patient, okay? Kaya wag mo na masyadong isipin yun, love.

To be honest that made me totally relieved pero hindi ko pinahalata. After a second, he came closer at agad akong inakbayan.

Rod: Wait, sino na ba yung mga famous Doctors? Hmm (thinking).... Alam ko na love, you know Dr. Helen Brooke Taussig? (Imee simply shook her head) Well, cardiologist din yun, love. She's American and working in Boston, I think. Now sa tingin mo ba never namatayan ng pasyente yun?

Imee: I-I don't know.

Rod: Sus! Panigurado ako namatayan din ng pasyente yun mahal ko—Oh ahm ito pa...You know Dr. Daniel Williams?

Imee: Hindi din.

Rod: He's a general surgeon naman, love. I think siya ang founder ng hospital sa Chicago eh. Well, he has good records naman pero sigurado ako nagkamali na din yun.

Imee: Paano mo naman nasabi?

Rod: Eh hindi naman sila magiging ganon kagaling if they never experience failure eh. Alam mo kasi love, every failure na nararanasan ng isang tao is very important.

Imee: Why?

Rod: Kasi yun ang magiging dahilan para mas lalo pa nilang galingan. Look love, we cannot achieve success without failure, okay? (Look at Imee) Kaya wag kang masyadong malungkot if you fail. Magpasalamat ka nalang coz those failure will become your way to achieve more success in life (then smile)

When Rod tell those words, I simply nodded and smile. Hay! If there's one thing I've realised today is that kahit gaano ka kalungkot at ka-disappoint sa sarili mo, there will always one person who will cheer you up and have the power to turn negative into positive one.

Rod: May naalala pa ako, love. You know——

Imee: Enough na, love (then laugh which made Rod laugh as well)
