Pippin was throwing pebbles at the water. A loud splash echoed in your ears as they sank to the bottom. He started to throw his arm back to chuck another one, but Aragorn held back his arm and stopped him. "Do not disturb the water," he warned.

Frodo got up from where he was sitting and looked at the door. "It's a riddle," you hear him say. "Speak friend and enter. Gandalf, what's the elvish word for friend?"

"Mellon," Gandalf replied.

Suddenly you hear a roaring noise that causes you to pull away from Legolas and walk over to the others. The doors opened outwards. Everyone stood up, and Gandalf walked in first. Legolas held your hand tightly.

You almost wanted to pull away, but his touch was soft and relaxing. As you went in, the blackness seemed very real as it enveloped you.

"Soon, master elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the dwarves! Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone," he exclaimed happily, speaking to Legolas. "This, my friend, is the home of my cousin Balin, and they call it a mine! A mine!"

His voice echoed loudly off the walls of stone as Gandalf blew on the top of his staff to make light. Pleased to be able to see, you looked around. To your horror, skeletons covered with dust and spiderwebs cluttered the floor and steps leading further in.

"This is no mine," Boromir announced. "It's a tomb." Frodo gasps and steps back as a skeleton with arrows stuck in it lay in front of him.

"No! No!" Gimli rushed inwards and searched among the dead.

Legolas rushes forward and picks out a small arrow from one of the skeletons. "Goblin weapons!" he says, and throws it away. The echoing of it bouncing off stone only adds to the sound of everyone drawing their weapons.

You draw out your bow and arrow, and Legolas does the same. Aragorn looks questioningly at Boromir.

"We make for the gap of Rohan," Boromir said. The hobbits start to back out, stumbling over things on the floor and holding each others hands. "Now get out of here! Get out!"

Suddenly you hear a struggle and cries of "Strider!" from Sam.

You turn around in alarm to see Frodo being dragged towards the water by a huge tentacle. Aragorn turned around also when he heard his name, his sword brandished high in the air.

Sam began chopping off the huge tentacle with all his might, still yelling "Strider!" and Merry and Pippin were desperately grabbing Frodo's coat and arms and trying to pull him away. Frodo's screams echoed in your ears, and, without thinking, you run outside as fast as you can. The huge monster continued to pull the hobbit, dangling him high in the air and not letting him free of its grasp.

Dangling upside down, Frodo yelled, "Amber!"

Acting quickly, you withdraw your bow and take out your sword. Rushing forward into the black water, you went as close to the monster as you dared. The water soaked you up to your waist but you pressed on. Frodo's screams filled the air as its opened its mouth wide, teeth showing.

Boromir and Aragorn ran forward and began slicing off the tentacles. The hobbits lay on the shore, terrified. Legolas shot with his arrows again and again but the beast still didn't let the ring bearer go.

"Amber!" Frodo screamed again.

Aragorn sliced off the tentacle that held Frodo and he fell down into your arms. "Into the mines!" Gandalf shouted. "Into the mines! Hurry!"

Soaking wet and last in line while still clasping Frodo, you rush forward as fast as you can go and enter safety inside the dark cave. All of a sudden, you hear a loud cry and a sword slashing through the air. Turning around, you see Aragorn being snatched away by the beast and dragged towards the water. Quickly, you set Frodo down and turn towards the lake. "Strider!" Frodo screamed in horror. "What are we going to do?" he asked desperately, turning sorrowful brown eyes upwards.

"No time," you say, and usher him inside the cave before turning back around and begin chopping off the tentacle that held him in midair. Aragorn was trying in vain to hack his sword at the tentacle, but he couldn't get it around.

The others realised you both weren't there and gasp to see the scene unfolding. Legolas releases several good arrow shots, and finally Aragorn is released from the monsters grasp and falls into the water. Legolas rushes out to help his friend up and you all run into the caves. "Thank you," Aragorn manages to get out as the watery beast lunges forward, not going to give up on its prey.

A loud bunch of tumbling rocks come almost come down on top of Sam but you pull him out of the way just in time, and, to everyone's horror, the entrance is severely blocked.
