The Tree

I've seen many things in my life.
Storms, animals, the occasional witch passing by, but never have a gotten the chance to watch love unfold beneath my branches .
Two girls, Luz Noceda, and Amity Blight.
It started with a dance.
But as the days went on, i've seen them grow, closer and closer.
Sunsets they would come to me, with a basket and some food. They'd watch the sunset with me.
I've watched this land be destroyed, and rebuilt by those same witches in love.

I've seen their first date.

I've seen the celebration of their success in saving both the demon and human realm.

I've seen Amity blight get down on one knee, with a ring in her hand, proposing a life together with the girl she loves the most.

I've seen the two of them in white, their friends and families sat in chairs as they shared their first kiss as wives.

i've seen them grow older and older.

10 year anniversary...

20 year anniversary...

it's been years since i've seen them last. As they grew older they stopped coming to me.

But on one warm evening, the sunset was starting an orange blaze to the clouds as an old lady with grey hair and a walking stick wandered up my path. She was alone.

She knelt down at my roots, and placed her head to my trunk.

"My dearest Amity.."
She mumbled.
"I'll never forget you"
She said, as she shakily pulled a small slower out of her little bag, and began planting it beside me.
It was a small purple carnation, representing her wife, who had sadly passed on.
She looked up at me, her wrinkly brown eyes filled with tears.
"Thank you, old friend."
She patted my trunk, hesitantly stood up, and wandered back down the trail she came from.

That was a year ago. She never returned.
But where she planted that small purple carnation, miraculously a second carnation appeared right next to me.

We were all together again.
Just like old times.

this idea was inspired by a conversation i had with my girlfriend where i said that i'd love to be a tree where i could just watch people stories play out in front of me, so this is my take on that <3 hope you enjoyed !
