Asteria was with Grocer and Annabeth after they made them evacuate the place - they were surrounded by cops and ambulances
"They're looking at us" Grover muttered looked down to avoid eye contact "Yeah all these stares is making me feel like im about to get cursed" Asteria sighed, as Annabeth agreed
"We should probably get outta here, don't you guys think?" Grover suggested "That would make us look more suspicious" Asteria reminded as she looked at some kids who had been staring at them
"Dude they're looking right at us" Grover seemed more nervous "What?" Both girls questioned clearly not paying attention "Come on. Let's go find Percy" Annabeth stated
"Annabeth it's not that easy" Asteria began warning her "He's alive" She replied back "I know."
Asteria decided to keep quiet not wanting to start another argument - she just needed to find Percy
Annabeth soon enough led the group away from the scene "Percy!" They all began to yell walking across the dock
They turned the corner as Asteria gasped - Percy was getting onto the dock they were on "Hi" was the only thing he said - as the group walked towards him
"Im sorry for shoving you guys into the stairwell" He began to rant - Asteria cleared her throat as Annabeth went to hug Percy - the boy obviously noticed her reaction as he quickly let go of Annabeth
"Asteria" He whispered approaching her before hugging her tightly "I thought you where gone" She mumbled into his shoulder as Percy hugged her tighter before kissing her forehead "Never i wouldn't leave" He smiled, Percy let go of the hug before interlocking their fingers
"What happened?" Grover quickly began asking questions "Short version, we need to go to Santa Monica" Percy switched the subject "What?" Asteria asked furrowing her eyebrows looking at the group who was also confused
"Like now?" Grover questioned in shock "My father's gonna meet me there, he's gonna help us" He explained squeezing Asteria's hand slightly
"Uh just one problem with this plan."
"The police think we crashed an Amtrak train and then did that" Grover gestured toward the arch "Can we convince them it wasn't us? it cant be that hard" Asteria shrugged
"We tried."
"The cops are after us?" Percy stuttered in disbelief "Yeah." Grover said calmly "Isn't that gonna make it hard for us to get on a train?, or really anything you need tickets for?" Percy wondered
"I never thought about it that why" Asteria spoke as the group agreed - the group walked in silence eventually reaching a road "no, we're actually walking to Santa Monica?" Asteria groaned in realization
Grover laughed at the Asteria as she took forever to realize "I think this quest might be harder than we thought" Percy brought up
Percy went on a rant about the master bolt - the group already knew they just let him talk "Im the last person to realize this, aren't I?"
"Yep, that's why we just let you talk" Asteria mumbled giving him a small smile "Since the river it all feels different some how" He admitted
"He saved me, i never thought that's something he would do for me." Percy got interrupted by the sound of a engine approaching "Car" Grover stated "That's a motorcycle" Asteria whispered
"Maybe we shouldn't be this close to the road" Asteria worried before taking a step back as the group followed her movements
"We should let it pass, come on" They all followed Annabeth sitting behind the border "Im saying, we're not just trying to retrieve a thing. We might need to be detectives too" Percy quickly began "Fair point" Asteria agreed
Asteria noticed Percys mood change "Why are you being weird with me again? I thought we weren't doing that anymore" Percy snapped at Annabeth
Asteria only listened not wanting her feelings to get in the way "Im not being weird." She interfered "Yes you are, you've been weird since we left the arch" He mentioned, Asteria had also noticed
"i get it. It dosent have to be a thing you know, that you hugged me" Asteria sighed dropping Percy's hand
"I mean, we're like friends now. that seems like something friends would do" He quickly realized the words he said looking at Asteria who was looking back at him
"Back at the arch, i saw the Three Fates, and i saw Atropos cut a piece of thread." Annabeth explained "And that's bad or?" Percy was clearly confused, honestly Asteria was too
"The fates weave the life strand of every living thing. When you see a string cut" Grover informed them quickly getting interrupted "It means one of us is going to die" Annabeth finished his sentence
"Well that's one way to put it" Asteria looked over at Annabeth "We're all gonna die eventually" It was clear Percy was still confused "Soon, it's a warning. An omen" Annabeth clarified
Percy began ranting again "Guys" Asteria tried to catch their attention as the motorcycle stopped near them "Percy i know what your saying is important but be quiet" She whispered gesturing towards the road, Percy soon realized what Asteria was talking about
"Need some help?" The biker approached as the group all looked at eachother before peaking over the edge of the border "Beg pardon?"
"I asked if you could use some help" The creepy man repeated himself - nobody knew what to say so they let Grover do the talking "We're food. Appreciate you asking though, so long" They hid behind the border again
"You sure? because you guys are so behind schedule"
The group got up, Percy helped Asteria up before wrapping an arm around her being protective in a way
"Ares" Annabeth explained "You must be Athena's kid" Ares spoke talking to Annabeth "Why would you help us?" She questioned "Im doing exactly the same thing as you"
Ares took off after telling the teens to meet him at a diner - Percy kept his hand on Asteria as they followed Annabeth's lead
