"ash can we go now!?" xandria asked excitedly after finishing taking some pictures in the mirror."this music downstairs is bumping and i'm trynna be bumping too!"

ashanti rolled her eyes, turning off her phone after checking on her instagram post. she had checked to see if omarion had interacted with it.

blocking him after ending things left her happy to finally have some freedom back on social media.

she put on her pink zip-up, looking at her outfit one last time before following xandria out the bedroom door.

bedrock by young money was playing throughout the house as ashanti & xandria made their way down the stairs. they didn't recognize any faces but planned on going to the kitchen for a drink.

xandria handed ashanti a red plastic solo cup, "you better have some fun tonight. i'm gonna go find troy, okay?"

ashanti nodded, "bet, i'll find you later."

xandria squealed as she squeezed through a group of people, and just like that, she was gone. ashanti left alone, decided on heading out to the patio to spark up. she downed the drink in her hand before finding a way out.

vinnie must've been the most popular kid on the fucking block. the house was filled to the brim of people talking, kissing, dancing, and having a good time.

ashanti maneuvered through the crowd out to the open air. she grabbed the joint she kept behind her ear and grabbed a lighter from her pocket.

"you've been downstairs for five minutes and you find the company of marijuana to be more comforting than i am."

ashanti laughed, "i was gonna come find you after a little. it's your party, don't you have to socialize first?"

vinnie rolled his eyes, walking closer to the other. "you're the one who i want to socialize with..."

ashanti blew smoke in the opposite direction. she sighed, "my bad v. there's so many people in there and out here it's so..."

"quiet?"

ashanti nodded, "quiet and peaceful." she shrugged, "but now that you're here, if you want to go inside, we can after i'm done? i'm always a little more social after a sesh."

he smiled, "i would like that.. but i'm okay with staying out here for a while."

"good." ashanti agreed, taking another hit. "while we're out here, can we talk about something..?"

vinnie faced his attention towards ashanti, listening to whatever was going to follow. "yeah, of course. is eveything okay?"

"eveything is fine. i've just been doing a lot of thinking.."

vinnie's eyebrow raised, the smile on his face growing slightly. "thinking? thinking about what shanti?"

she exhaled a hit before speaking. "about us v."

"oh really? what about us?"

ashanti sucked her teeth, her own smile growing. "listen. i've been through a lot. you of all people should know this. omarion put me through hell and vinnie, you are the one who helped me get through that..."

"you're so sweet and kind and treat me better than omar ever did.. and i'm not saying anything has to be serious right now but i've always been a communicator so i'm telling you this." ashanti looked up to hazel eyes that were focusing all their attention on her.

"ashanti..?"

"i like you vinnie... and i know we haven't known each other for very long, but you created a safe space where i can go and just be me. and i felt like it was time for you to know..."

vinnie's eyes grew brighter, his expression lightening. he reached out his hand, ashanti grabbing it swiftly. he placed it on his chest, his heart was almost beating out of it.

"you hear that?"

"every time i see you, every time i talk with you, every time you literally do anything." he chuckled softly, "ashanti if it wasn't blatantly clear, i've liked you since we literally first met."

it was now ashanti's turn to laugh, "i think that's an exaggeration." vinnie interlaced their fingers, them now holding hands under the moonlight.

"it's not an exaggeration, but i'll save myself from admitting to that embarrassment." he shook his head, his voice getting quieter, "i like you ashanti. more than you could ever know.."

ashanti smiled at the confession, continuing on,
"i like what we are now.. being official and labels is something that we don't have to worry about right now since it's still pretty soon and everything with omarion, but i just wanted to establish my intentions.."

"would it be okay if i established my intentions?"

"what do you mean?"

vinnie looked down nervously. ashanti chuckled before speaking again, "are you asking to kiss me vincent? you're such a gentleman..."

"what can i say? my mom raised me right.."

she smiled, "yes vinnie. you can kiss me."

vinnie smiled back, his warm hands moving from ashanti's hands up to her face. he brought himself down to her level.

"your eyes are beautiful, i could never get sick of looking into them." his voice was barely above a whisper as ashanti closed the distance between them.

after a moment, vinnie smiled into the kiss, causing ashanti to release.

"what are you so happy about white man?"

"i just... it's you shanti. you make me happy."

ashanti rolled her eyes playfully, shoving the other in the arm, "you are such a lover boy."

"i'm a certified one." he shrugged, "you ready to go inside now?" he reached out his hand. ashanti smiled softly before taking his hand, "as ready as i guess i'll be."
