"Come on little man..." I said to my three-year-old son, just as the bus pulled up. "Big Bus!" He pointed before we stepped on.

"I know, this is a big bus." Swiping my bus card before picking him up and looking around. "Fuck!" Mumbling quietly to myself. There weren't any available seats left and people were standing up. We walked toward the back and stood near the back exit. I had a car but it's a piece of shit now! It broke down on me one night after work. I had to walk the rest of the way with Omari. My brother said he would help me get another but that has yet to happen. I try not to ask him for much because I feel embarrassed asking another grown man for something.

" This is about to be a long ride Mari." I held him tight and turned slightly so that my book bag wasn't in anyone's way.

" Dada, Fren fry?" I chuckled. We were already on the bus and now he wants french fries. It was late as hell and Omari needed to be in bed but I had to work late tonight. I had no one to watch him. Especially anyone I trusted. We stay with my grandmother. She has offered to watch him but she has so many health problems, I wouldn't dare do that to her and my brother and his girl have too much going on. So I bring him to work with me. I clean inside office buildings after hours so there's no issues with having him with me. He's never in my way. One of the workers found out that I bring my kid to work and bought him a little wagon that he sits in while I clean. It works out for now.

" We'll get you some at home."

" Happy meal, Dada." I hate that I have my kid living off of McDonald's and frozen nuggets at home, but that's all he wants to eat. " Aight O."

" Excuse me." A soft voice interrupts my thoughts. I turned to the left to see this girl standing in front of me. " Hey cutie." She smiled at Omari and then looked at me.

" Say hi, Omari." He gets shy and puts his face in my neck.

" He's shy."

" It's ok, I get it. I'm shy too. Can I get right there." She points to the space behind me. " Yea sure, let me get this book bag off." I adjusted Omari in my arms and took it off, placing on the floor by my feet.

" Thank you!" She smiled.

" No problem. I'm Aubrey." She smiles.

" I'm Dominique,."

" Nice to meet you." Omari turned his head and looked at her. " You too ."

We had to stand for about thirty minutes, which sucked because I was holding Omari and he was asleep.

" Aye babygirl, you sit down." A man said while standing up and moving toward the exit. Dominique turned around and looked. " You want to sit down? Since you have him."
