Chapter 3: Lost Memories.

Punz waited.. and waited, for Dream's answer. As if he can't take Dream silencing himself and not saying anything after he asked his question.

"Dream..?" Punz called out, as he only stare at Dream, seemingly quite worried, concerned and a bit determined. Dream look at him, as he sigh softly, before he spoke in a quite stern, yet soft tone.

"..I'm sorry. But, n-no.. I don't remember anything.. and I don't remember you, Punz."

"Did you have.. a close connection with me.. in the past?" Dream asked, as he kept his head peek out, whilst his whole body hides behind the egg. Dream was a little afraid, and also quite confused.

"...." Now, it was Punz's turn to be silent. As he look at Dream with slight, wide eyes. He was too surprised, Punz slowly nodded his head to Dream's question before he cleared his throat and spoke in a soft and gentle tone of voice; "Ah.. I see.....",

"Do you perhaps know who you are?"

Dream was caught off-guard, a bit as if he was surprised to hear that question. This got him thinking.. thinking deeply. Punz tilt his head to the side, slightly as he awaits for Dream's response.

"..I.. n-no.." Dream says, as he look at Punz with wide eyes and then, he look away from Punz as he hides himself behind the egg. He was panicking slightly, as if he didn't like where this was going.. and, he thought about Punz's question even more.

Punz was silent, whilst he kept his composure and only stare at the egg. He also felt his mind being controlled slightly, as he tried to resist them. Punz then look at Dream's corpse, hanging on top of the ceiling with the vines.

Punz was grossed out at the sight, as he thinks about burying Dream's corpse elsewhere. But, he just needed to ask permissions from Dream. Punz was still staring at Dream's corpse, as he saw how his blood was still kinda fresh..

He then extended his hand out, as he reached his hand up in the air, slightly. As some of Dream's blood poured onto Punz's hand. Punz's hand was trembling slightly as he sigh shakily and then pulled his hand back and didn't really wipes off the blood.

Punz only look at his blooded hand, before he sigh once more and put his hand to the side as he thinks of what to say. Punz then slowly walked up to the egg, as if he was trying to reach out for Dream.. and not wanting him to hide himself anymore.

Dream felt scared, and how he heard Punz's footsteps just makes him even more nervous and slight anxious. Dream trembles in fear, while his mind was filled with voices and questions that he needed to find out and know.

Punz was now infront of the egg, as he let out a slight and quite huff, before he placed his hand on the egg. "..Why are you hiding behind this.. thing, anyway..?" Punz asked. He was in his own mind and will, right now and there. The egg does not have the control... Yet...

Dream was breathing heavily, quietly and shakily too. "I-i... B-because, t-this egg is.. part of my f-family..." Now, Punz was confused and intrigued. "Part of your family? Can you please.. elaborate for a bit? I'm.. a bit confused.".

Punz was left with silence, before he let out a sigh of a bit of frustration. 'This new.. kind of Dream, sure is quite complicated to take care off...' Punz thought to himself, before he chuckled to himself at his own thought.

Punz then sigh again, as he smiled softly, and slightly. "Alright.. if you don't want to answer, that's fine. I can find the answer on my own later on." Punz said, with a chuckle. Before he turns around and slowly walk away from the egg and Dream.

"Oh. I'll be leaving now.. but, tomorrow, I might come back.. or not. Tomorrow might be and get important, so I won't be able to visit you.."

"But, while I'm gone. Take care of yourself, alright Dream?" Punz says, as he glance on his shoulder, looking behind him. Punz was blushing slightly, but he quickly brush it off.

"A-ah.. a-alright... You too.." Dream replied, in a gentle and shaky tone of voice. He didn't get why Punz would be that nice and ask him that, but he didn't thought much about it as he heard Punz's footsteps were gone and was last heard a moment ago.

Dream peeked his head out, to see if Punz was still there or not. He saw no one, he was quite relieved and also.. slightly scared and lonely. Dream sighed softly, before he pulled his head back and rest his back against the egg.

He hugged his knees, and rested his head on them. He narrowed his eyes before he close them. He was still thinking about Punz's question earlier..

'..who am I..?'

'Why did he ask that..?'

'I only know my own name.. but.. I don't even know my own backstory and what happened to me... Not at all...' Dream thought;

"Dream picked up the mask, as he analyze it for a bit. He un-clipped the small black-belt on it, before he then noticed a small and unique hand-writing on it.

It was a name.

He didn't know who's name it was, but the mask felt way too familiar to him. Even though, he didn't know who's mask this was, he wore it for a while.

Before he started to think about the name that was written on it. He look at it for a few more seconds.

'DayDream / Dream' it says;

Dream didn't thought much about it, as he started to think about naming himself DayDream / Dream. It took him a while, before he nodded to himself and insist on naming himself Dream... DayDream."

Dream sighed, as he opened his eyes and look at the mask beside him. He didn't wear it.. because he didn't like how it looked for some reason. It was crying, and he didn't like it.

But, Dream promised to keep the mask safe and treasured. As he smiled softly, before he closed his eyes again and slowly.. drifting to sleep. He was quite tired, so he needed them.
