Secret of the Tomb, part 2: What Happened?!

Start from the beginning

"No, I- I know, I-"

"Special effects? More like special... SPECIAL DEFECTS! AHAHAH!!" McPhee maniacally laughed and sounded like a crazy person. Y/n and Larry heard loud music coming from Larry's apartment.

"Look, I promise you, I'm gonna find out what happened. All right?"

"OR- OR THEY WERE SPECIAL REJECTS!!" the music only blared louder.

"I'm sorry Dr. McPhee, I gotta go." Larry hung the phone up, and Larry opened the door, a little surprised it was unlocked. The two came inside to see at least thirty teenagers, Nicky being one of them. They were all jumping up and down, and Nicky was making the loud music. His happy reaction died down a ton when he saw Larry.

"Nicky! Stop hopping!" Larry said. Nicky refused, and didn't stop until Larry pulled the cord. "Aww!" the teenagers boo-ed.

"Dad, what are you doing?" Nick asked. "What are you doing?" Larry asked back. "Dude, it's three in the morning, you shouldn't even be up!" Y/n said. "Wow, surprising to hear, coming from you, Y/n." Nicky said. "All right, party's over." Larry hollered so everyone could hear. People started leaving, except for a couple girls, one writing on nicky's arm.

"See you tomorrow night?" she smiled.

"Probably not." Larry responded for Nicky.

"Probably" Nicky smiled back.

"Most likely not." Y/n said.

"Definitely not." Larry confirmed, as the girls left.

"You're in so much trouble." Larry said to Nicky, before going to the kitchen and cleaning a couple things up, Y/n doing the same.

"...I didn't really know you guys were coming home early." Nicky muttered. "No shit, Sherlock." Y/n said, taking Larry's trashcan and throwing plastic cups away. "Nicky, what makes you think this is okay?" Larry asked.

"When I'm not at Mom's you leave me alone every night! And I know Y/n stays with me sometimes, but they're my (sibling name), and it gets old." Nicky explained. "Ouch," Y/n said.

"Look, you can't be doing this right now. You have finals, and-" Larry said. "Yeah, aren't you planning on applying to NYU? That thing's due in what, two weeks from now?" Y/n added.

"I'm not gonna get into NYU."

"You don't know that."

"No, I do."

"You don't know that."

"I do, very much know that, in the sense that I don't intend to apply."

"What?"

"I don't think it's the right place for me right now, Dad."

"Okay. All right. Fine, you wanna spread your wings a little, get out of the city, go to school somewhere else, I totally support that. All you had to do was tell me." Larry said. "So where do you think is the right place?" Y/n asked, "What's the list?"

"It's a short list," Nicky smiled.

"Great, I like it. Focus." Larry responded.

"Ima hit you with a SUPER short list, man, because it's... there's nothing on it."

"...There's... Okay, I'm confused, because there's not a list-"

"Dad, I wanna take a year off! I would like to do exactly what you just said, I wanna spread my wings."

"You wanna spread your wings, that's great, but you can't just fly to nowhere."

"Plans change."

"No, they don't. No, they don't, plans don't change."

"We had a plan, it changed, It's disorienting at first-"

"No, you can't change the plan, unless you check with the people who are financing your plan, which is last time I checked, your mother and I, and your (sibling), because they want to give you some of their hard earned money. In fact, just thank them real quick." Larry said.

"Dad, we could sit here and just have this conversation about plans, and who's paying for them, - and thanks by the way, Y/n - but for now, let's call it a night. All three of us. Let's call it a night, let's not even clean up, right? Let's come back tomorrow, let's reboot this whole energy, the whole tone of this puppy, and we'll kill it! Team Daley! Not tonight, tomorrow-" Nicky spoke

"Team Daley?"

"Yeah-"

"Stop talking. You're gonna clean up, I'm gonna go to bed, and Y/n, you should probably head to your apartment. I know it's not that far across the hall, but with all that happened tonight, just please, go to your apartment. Nicky, you and I are gonna finish this conversation tomorrow." Larry ended the conversation and walked to his bedroom. Y/n gave the trash can to Nicky.

"Hey, don't take it too personally, we've had a rough night. Maybe he just needs some sleep. You need some, too. I'm gonna go to my apartment, get some work done, and get to bed. Love ya, kid." Y/n said, before kissing the top of his head (like how parents do) and left the apartment.
