CHAPTER 39: Flowers

Nagbuntong hininga si Lucy nang matanaw si Anda na naglalaro ng golf mag-isa. She was looking for her in the mansion but she wasn't there. Hindi siya nagkamali na matatagpuan nya ito sa mini golf course. Golfing is Emiranda's sports... at nagiging emotional outlet na rin nito

Bumababa si Lucy mula sa golf cart at naglakad palapit  sa pinsan.

"Hindi ko na ba talaga mababago ang isip mo, Anda?"

She just glanced at her shortly and had her attention back to the ball.

"Are you really giving up on your sister?" Dugtong niya nang hustong makalapit dito

"She disappeared without saying a word to me or to anyone, Lucy. That only means one thing, she wants to be away and doesn't want anyone to know her whereabouts. Not even her own sister is a consideration." She said bitterly and hit the ball with the golf club. "Nakakapagod hanapin ang taong ayaw magpahanap, Lucy." Saktong pumasok ang bola sa butas ngunit walang satisfaction sa mata ni Emiranda. Kung sa ibang pagkakataon ay nagpapalakpak na ito sa tuwa.

May mini golf area ang hacienda. Hindi ito kalayuan kung saan nakatirik ang mansion. This was her dad's idea. The area around the mansion is a wide grass land so he decided to make use of it as a recreational area. Kung hindi nasa rancho para mag horse racing ay dito sa golf o kaya naman sa basketball court matatagpuan ang Daddy nya at ang dalawang kapatid. They get so competitive with each other when it comes to sports sometimes. Minsan ay sinasali pa siya Ng mga ito... at siya palagi ang unang natatalo.

Kung hindi pa nabanggit ng ina kaninang umaga ang pababalak na pag-uwi ng pinsan sa Nevada bukas ay wala siyang kaalam-alam. Contrary to what she thought na mas magtatagal ito sa Nueva Caceres para hanapin si Dahlia. Kung sa bagay ay wala siya sa mansion buong gabi. Anda's decision to go home might be a spur of the moment. Out of emotion.

"Maybe she has reasons for all of these, Anda." She said softly, trying to save their sibling relationship.

Dahlia and Emiranda has always been the best sister for each other. Kahit kailan ay hindi pa nagkakaroon ng malalim na away ang dalawa, ito marahil ang unang pagkakataon kung magpapatuloy ang ganitong pag-iisip ni Anda. Her intrusive thoughts  about her sister would eventually plant a hatred in her heart. Hence her effort to console Anda to give Dahlia  the benefit of the doubt. Maging siya man ay galit sa biglaang pag-alis ng pinsan ngunit hindi iyon ang pinangibabaw niya sa sandaling iyon. Kung sasabayan niya ang galit ni Anda ay baka tuluyang magkaroon ng lamat ang relasyon ng magkapatid o maging nilang tatlo bilang magpinsan.

"What reason could it be, Lucy?"

"Siguro ay ayaw nya lang tayong madamay sa gulo ng buhay—"

"Well, screw her!" She snapped. "What does she think of herself? A heroin in the movie who's playing unselfish by running away so she won't troubled anybody with her problems? She's completely doing the opposite, Lucy. Ni hindi man lang nya inisip ang mararamdanan ng mga taong iniwan niya, na may pamilyang maghahanap at mag-aalala sa kanya. A selfish and inconsiderate bitch, that's what she is!"
