My eyes stayed on the bandage though, wondering if he had changed it himself considering that it was done very well.

"Oh this?" His eyes shifted to the bandage as he scratched his cheek with his pointer finger. "Right before I was about to leave I got caught by one of the maids. She said her name was Maki and she calmed down when she heard that I was your friend. She ended up changing my bandage for me and helped sneak me out! She was really nice!"

I grabbed one of my pillows and threw it at him out of frustration. My anxiety going up and down as I listened to his explanation. "You're an actual idiot! You're lucky it was Maki and not someone else!"

He picked up the pillow that fell on the ground after it had hit him and held it in his lap. "You know, you failed to mention that you were the princess."

I froze instantly, caught in my lie as I cleared my throat, standing up straight. "What are you talking about?"

He stood up and leaned down to my face with narrowed eyes and a pout. "Don't go lying to me now! Maki told me everything!"

I challenged his stare but only sighed in defeat as I sat down on my bed. "Fine. You caught me, but it's not like I could tell a stranger I was the princess. Imagine what could've happened!"

He walked over to my desk with a satisfied smile. "You're right, but good thing I'm not that kind of guy!"

I tore my gaze away from him, mumbling curses under my breath and mocking his cocky attitude.

"What's this? 'A handsome guy washed up in a boat on the shore and I tended to his wounds.'" He held my journal up as he spoke with a playful tone and a smirk to match.

I shot up from my spot on the bed and snatched it from him, throwing it in my drawer before glaring at him. Trying to ignore the heat rushing to my ears and cheeks as I asked him harshly if he was familiar with the term 'privacy'.

Ace stepped towards me, making me take a step back only to back up into my drawer. He leaned closer to my face, this time his cockiness practically radiating off him. "You never told me you found me attractive."

I scoffed and pushed him away, my hand on his chest. "That was until you woke up and started talking."

He held his chest with a hurt look on his face as if he just got shot in the heart. "Ouch. You hurt my feelings, princess."

I shake off the feeling that arose as he called me the label and opened the balcony doors once more. "I think it's time for you to go."

He laughed slightly, but headed towards the balcony nonetheless. "Of course, I don't want to make the princess angry."

My eye twitched as I pushed him out and closed the doors before closing the curtains, not wanting to see his stupid smirk again.

I sat on my bed reading a romance book, hoping it would put me to sleep, but it didn't work.

I looked towards my balcony, wondering if the freckled man had left the island already. Rain hit the balcony doors making me hope that he did. Until suddenly a hand appeared on the bottom of the balcony before I see the Ace covered in rain haul himself up.

We make eye contact and I ran to open the doors for him, letting a little rain in along with the muscular man.

"Jesus Ace. What are you still doing here?" I grabbed two towels, one for wiping the water from the floor and one for him.

He turned to answer my question only to stop at the sight of me. His eyes darted away, a small blush appearing on his cheeks. "I, um, my boat has a hole in it so I couldn't set sail."
