Chapter 35: Second Patrol

Jumping down, the medieval-fashioned vigilante duo landed on the ground. Squire then approached Jonas who was currently in his identity Archivist.

" It's been a few days since our first meeting. "

Squire approached Jonas and then look behind his back to where there are the two corpses of the two gang members.

After seeing the two dead gang members, Archivist immediately decided to call Squire. Using the phone that was given to him by her– It was a phone that was given by her during their first meeting. She has given it to him while they were on their way to send the Scarecrow to Arkham Asylum.

It was her way of apologizing for beating him up. But his eye god has informed him that the phone has a tracker on it. Even with the tracker on the phone he still accepted the 'apology gift' which surprises Squire.

On that day, after sending Scarecrow to Arkham Asylum, while running away, Archivist sent the cell phone to the painting that was underneath his cape.

Sending it inside the painting, the tracker wouldn't work for him and they wouldn't be able to track him down when he doesn't want to be found. He would only take it out if he wanted to be found just like now and serve as his communicator towards the other vigilantes.

Nodding his head at Squire's statement, he glances back at the two dead gang members and told the information that his eye fear god relayed to him and what he found he arrived.

" Tonight is my second day for my vigilante activities. I decided to go to the Narrows for my second day. "

Squire whistled when she heard what Archivist said. Archivist could guess what was she thinking. She must be impressed that he decided to go to one of the most dangerous and crime-ridden parts of Gotham City on his second day despite not being proficient in fighting and lacking in martial art skills.

Archivist continued his storytelling

" While patrolling the Narrows, I heard the sound of gunshots. The two gang members are already dead. I look around the place if I could see the criminal that shoots them. "

" They didn't kill each other? "

Beside the Squire, the Knight asked. Archivist shook his head and says

" Based on the information that I acquired, even if the two gang members are on opposing sides, it was confirmed that they are killed by a third party. "

" You sure, it ain't you, Archivist? "

Squire joked with a smile on her face. She thought of it as a harmless joke so Archivist wasn't offended. It was also good that she can joke with him. Then that means that she was more quite friendly to him, unlike their first meeting.

It is an improvement.

Pondering, Archivist replied.

" I don't kill people. "

True. Archivist, Jonas, or any of his other identities aren't planning to kill criminals or innocent people.

For unforgivable criminals, being killed is considered mercy. What was appropriate for that kind of unforgivable criminal is to get stuck in the lonely forever and ever. Constantly suffering from despair, loneliness, and abandonment, being forgotten by everyone and all of them being stuck in their negative headspace forever.

Crying and suffering.

After unlocking the web, Jonas would make sure that he would unlock the lonely.

[ The Lonely doesn't like to be bothered. It says to leave it alone. ]

Thought... His Lonely God does seem to have quite an interesting characteristic compared to some of his other dread gods.

While musing a little bit, Archivist continued.

" I prefer to lock all of them in jail. "

Sooner, Jonas would have all of his hunted criminals locked in jail forever and would never escape again. But he needs to unlock his Lonely God first.

Since he was planning to quit his job as a waiter at the Iceberg Lounge restaurant, sending Scarecrow to Arkham Asylum gave him an idea.

Apply for a job in Arkham Asylum.

Most of the people in Arkham Asylum are criminally insane and dangerous. For those types of people, Jonas doesn't feel remorse for planning on scaring them and constantly feeding on their fears shortly.

Both Squire and the Knight, even if he couldn't see their expressions, (With the squire's eyes covered in a domino mask while the knight is covered in head armor) must be sending him a look of skepticism.

" If you say so.. "

That was a tone of doubt from Squire. Coughing, the Knight said to Archivist

" Even if you haven't met Batman, It was admirable that you are adhering to his no-killing rule. You are an admirable young man for your desire to not give up on the criminals. "

There was a respect for the Knights voice which the Archivist could hear.

The knight is wrong for admiring Archivist. He could never be more wrong in his conclusion.

Yes, he wasn't planning to kill them because he was planning to keep them as a source of his food and his fear of gods. It would be bad if they die.

He promised the Bird Vigilantes that he wouldn't eat from children's fear anymore and stop scaring them. Even if the one that promised it was Jonas and not the Archivist.

Archivist then decided to not correct the Knight in his conclusion and choose to remain quiet. After a while, with Squire and Knight, Archivist decided to join in their investigation around the scene of the crime. Knight also called the GCPD while they were investigating around.

While they were looking around for clues, he heard the Knight communicating with Oracle and Robin.

" Another again? This is the 4th time. Robin, what do you think? "

" This isn't a coincidence. "

" Does we have a serial killer on the loose? "

There was an unsure tone to Robin when he answered Oracle.

" .. There's a little chance. "

" Little chance? Then what's your conclusion, Robin? "

" .. I think that we have a repeat situation. "

Robin paused and continued.

" There's a possibility that it is Azrael. "

While Robin and Oracle we're talking and Knight and Squire are listening, Archivist Eye Fear God decides to offer him another random piece of information.

[ Two treacherous traitors discovering each other's real identities, when it is time to enact their schemes to kill each other, the false knight erases them. ]

Later, it was discovered that the two gang members weren't part of a small gang. But spies from Two-face and Penguin.

When the Archivist patrol ended, he bid goodbye to the Knight and Squire and make sure that he wasn't being followed. Returning to Theodore Morrison's rented room in an apartment on the narrows, he took off his mask and change his clothes.

Jonas was once again Theodore Morrison and not the new vigilante of Gotham Archivist.

Placed the phone once again on the painting to make sure that he wouldn't be tracked– After that, he took out the piece of paper that he found at the scene of the crime but haven't informed the knight or squire of the important piece of evidence that he found.

[ I am Batman ]

That's what was written on the piece of paper.
