Chapter sixteen | Alexander
"Track her phone down," I demand to my second in command, Arthur nods curtly as he strides towards the door, closing it with a thud behind him.

Hundreds of thoughts run through my mind, and I clench my hands, something is wrong with Ekaterina, it's been four days since I kissed her, and with the passage of every day, I'm starting to realize how much of a mistake it has been,

She's hiding something from me, the scar, the nightmares, her medicines, weird calls that she never dares to answer when I'm in view, and maybe I'm overreacting but I can't stop my mind from connecting the dots.

And maybe it's fucking wrong but I need to know what's happening, whatever the fuck is going on with her might be deadly,

A knock on the door cuts off my thoughts and Ezekiel strides inside, wearing his normal scowl as he takes a seat in front of me, legs crossed as he starts talking, "where have you been?" He asks sternly raising a brow and I roll my eyes.

"Do you care about me that much?" I ask mockingly as I grab the pack of cigarettes placed on the desk, lightening off one of them then I blow out a smoke, his eyes narrow and his scowl deepens, "there's been some shit that's going on, apparently there's an assassin here, or more like a spy, those are the pakhan's words not mine though, he wants you to find him." He protests and I raise a brow, this is the first time I'm hearing this.

And truth be told, I'm not even surprised, I've always been the one responsible for shit like that and I wasn't going to pretend that I wasn't good at what I'm doing, "sure, give me two weeks." I replied, bothered by Ekaterina's situation that keeps coming back to my mind.

I'm desperately in need to turn out wrong, that she's innocent and I'm the bad guy, Ezekiel's eyes narrow and I raise a brow when he doesn't offer any answers, "how's your marriage going?" His random question catches me off guard and I glare at him, not liking where this conversation is going, "great." I grit out, not offering him more details.

He knows he's pissing me off which is exactly why a small smirk is tugging at the corner of his lips, so I just do the same to him, "the pakhan has been digging to find your ass any wife." I say and his jaw clenches, one thing about him is that he has made it clear that he doesn't want a marriage, to fuck around simply, and that's the exact reason why the pakhan has been doing everything in his hand to find him a wife,

Rumors are starting to go off about him, and that's not something we have time for, of course, Ezekiel doesn't agree with that, but he can't say no and he knows it as well, which is why he mutters something intelligible under his breath and I raise a brow at him, a knock on the door stops our bickering and my eyes shift on Romero who's walking with a murderous expression on his face, cursing under his breath as he drops in the chair in front of Ezekiel, they both exchange a look and his gaze shifts to me.

"What?" I ask when he just continues glaring, it's not something new to him but he has a limit to it as well, "you seemed to go along well with that British asshole, I hope you remember that he's our enemy."Romero grits out and I run a hand through my hair as I pass him the cigarette,

He eyes it before blowing out a smoke and relaxing a little, "I'm not going along with anyone here, but I'm not stupid, if I can have him on my side I will, he's way smarter than you're both giving him credit for, and that British asshole isn't not our enemy." I offer mockingly and I don't even have to look to know that they're both scowling,

"He's staying in New York for a month, and I'm leaving in another week so I'm sure you'll see us together a lot, you need to calm down about this and think logically without making your anger get in the way," I say calmly and he narrows his eyes at me, but judging by his expression, he considers my words for a long thought,

"When are you going to meet him?" Ezekiel's measured words make me stop in my tracks, "two days from now probably, I can't meet him today or tomorrow because of personal reasons before you fucking ask." I reply to his thought and he grins, a billion-dollar smile like the great businessman he is,

God help me.

My phone ring interrupts our conversation and it's Arthur who's calling so I just cancel the call, and just when I'm about to continue talking, he dials again, and he wouldn't do that unless it is urgent, so I answer it.

"Miss.Ekaterina isn't in the house, moments after I put the tracker on her phone, it started walking away." He gets to the topic immediately and my heart almost jumps out of my chest as I process his words,

"Where?" I ask through clenched teeth as sickening possibilities start crawling their way through my mind, fuck, "she's still on the road, she hasn't arrived anywhere." He says and I grab my keys, storming out of the office and leaving Romero and Ezekiel with confused looks on both their faces,

Stepping in my car with hundreds of thoughts rushing to my mind "I'll close now, and if the car stops anywhere tell me." I order and he grunts as I throw my phone on the passenger seat,

Moments later the phone rings again and I answer "Sir." Arthur's voice meets my ears as he hisses under his breath, "I think you should take a look at the house." He says sternly and confusion rattles through my mind but I'm way too furious to overthink that so I just open the cameras of our family house from my phone, and just when they're about to load,

A phone call from my brother interrupts me and I cancel him off, he'll probably be informing me about her, way too late, too fucking late Vladimir, so I just get back to the horrendous sight in front of me.

My heart drops and my muscles tense, Blood is scattered on the floor in the living room, her blood, fuck fuck, my jaw clenches and I grit my teeth so hard I'm surprised they don't break, any thoughts I had about her hiding a secret from me vanish from my mind, and my number one priority is finding her,

Finding my girl.

*:・゚✧*:・

It's been four hours since I started following the tracker Arthur placed on her phone, I'm not close to them yet, and I'm surprised by how stupid they are, stupid enough to not break her phone or throw it away, but the stupidness is on my side at the moment so I'm not complaining,

"They stopped." Arthur's voice stops the thoughts roaming through my mind and I snatch the phone from his hand, they're about two hours away, way too much time for them to do something to her, anything.

I grip the steering wheel harder and he looks at me sideways, "what if it's a trap?" His random question makes my blood boils and I narrow my eyes, "don't mind me, sir, but I placed a tracker on her phone for that exact reason, that she might be betraying you." He says and if I wasn't currently driving, I'd have punched him.

"Watch your limits when you're talking about my wife, Arthur." I protest, a hard edge through my tone being clear and he gets the hint as he shuts his goddamn mouth, seconds later, the phone ring echoes in the air and I exchange a knowing look with him,

It's an unknown number, those fuckers who took her are calling, however, I don't think about the consequences the moment I pick up, and the first thing that meets my ears are screams, a familiar high-pitched ones,

Ekaterina's.

Needed to spice things up💀
