Unexpected Inheritance [REWRITE]

Chapter Ten: Let it be SLYTHERIN!!!

The great hall was a cacophony of noise as the resorting occurred. This had been the reason why the train had to leave earlier than it usually did this year. The seventh years went first and then it went down in order of year, the first years being the last year that would be sorted.

Ron had weaseled his way over to where Harry and Hermione were waiting and you could tell he was upset at having been left alone on the train. But with the excitement of the resorting Harry could get away with not talking to the red head.

"Fred Weasley" Came McGonagall's voice and they all turned to see what house he would be put in. Ron made a face as if he knew what house Fred would be in.

"Slytherin!" The hat called and the hall going dead quite, the Weasleys were a well known Gryffindor family, and a Weasley was just put in Slytherin. Harry couldn't hide his snort, it was so obvious what house the 'Weasley' twins were meant to be. As predicted, right after Fred, George was sorted into Slytherin with his twin.

"What Potter? Find it funny? My father will be hearing about this, a Weasleys in Slytherin? Nonsense." Came Draco's snide voice, he smirks.

"Draconius I thought you were smarter than that," he smirked at his shocked look, no one used Draco's full name, and Harry knew that no one but his parents and godparents should know it. "The twins are always sneaking around, most of the time uncaught. Do you know how skilled they are at potions and charms? It obvious in the details of their pranks,"

"Potter-" But Draco was cut off before he could say a word more to Harry as the year above them had been resorted quickly and it was now their turn.

"Hermione Granger," Harry smiled as he watched her go up.

"Ravenclaw!" The hat called and Hermione smiled before heading to her new table.

The sorting went smoothly Draco went back to Slytherin, Ron was still in Gryffindor and a few of the other 4th years were just returned to their original houses. And then Harry's turn came.

"Ah Mr. Potter, or should I say Mr. Riddle? I see you've finally know the truth and have accepted it." The sorting hat mused.

"I also think it's time I was put in the right house." Harry smiles.

"I agree, SLYTHERIN!"

As the hat was taken from Harry he gave McGonagall a smile. Glancing to see if he could catch Draco's shocked look, and what he found made him snort, Ron's look of horror made him roll his eyes. He turned back to McGonagall catching a glimpse at Snape's flabbergasted look

"Mr. Potter you will always be welcome in my office no matter your house." McGonagall smiled and Harry returned the gesture before moving to the Slytherin table.

The twins pull Harry to sit with them, Harry rolling his eyes at his brothers' antics as they started talking about all the pranks they were going to try and pull. Harry could feel Draco's eyes on him and Harry knew that the two of them had a lot that needed to be said, but at this moment it wasn't the right time.

"Now this year, our school will be holding a tournament, the Triwizard Cup! When the time comes I will explain more, but I tell you now this year's oddities do not end with everyone being resorted." Dumbledore's voice echoes throughout the room. "Now, let the feast begin!"

As the food appeared, Harry took the opportunity to ignore Dumbledore and be happy that he would no longer be in the same house as Ron, though he was a bit sad about what house Hermione had been put in, it would mean that they weren't going to be around each other as much.

All honesty this was probably Harry's best feast, one where he didn't have to hear Ron's obnoxious chewing and he actually knows the truth. Previously he had always felt numb and not quite right, though now Harry knew that was likely the blocks and potions talking and were the reason for that.
