II - The Lucky Girl

Tanya's POV

He leaned closer and kissed me.

He kissed me. On my forehead.

I waited for his lips to touch mine but instead, I felt his lips on my forehead. I opened my eyes and I saw him looking intently at me. He smiled then he whispered, "Happy birthday, Tanya."

Birthday? Bukas pa ang birthday ko and—Oh. Now, I get it kung para saan lahat 'to.

Nakangiti pa rin si Keith habang nakatitig siya sa akin. "Surprise, Tanya. I hope you liked my gift. I want to be the first one to greet you on your Nineteenth birthday kaya I came up with this plan."

I was stunned. I don't know how I will react. Tinitigan ko lang si Keith. He's the one who broke the silence between us. "Tanya? Didn't you like it?"

Do'n pa lang ako natauhan. I blinked a few times while I collect myself. "No, no. I mean, yes I liked it. Thank you so much, Keith."

Napangiti siya ulit before he pulled me into an embrace. Ang higpit ng yakap niya sa akin. We could stay in this position forever and I won't mind it at all.

"I'm glad you liked this, Tanya. I can't think of any other gift to give you to make this day memorable kaya ito na lang ang ginawa ko." He said. I'm hearing his voice from his chest.

"Thank you talaga, Keith. But really, You don't have to do this. A day with you would've been enough, you know?" Sabi ko naman sa kanya as I tighten my arms around him.

Humiwalay siya sa pagkakayakap sa akin and when I saw his face, tumatawa na siya.

"That sounds too cheesy, Tanya." he teased.

"But it's true."

"I know, Tanya. I know." He said. He pulled me closer to him again para yakapin ako. "I love you. Always keep that in mind, okay?"

"I will, Keith."

I am happy. Alam ko sa sarili kong sobra akong masaya ngayon because Keith is here with me right now, his arms wrapped around me while his heartbeats serenade me. But there's something missing. This night could've been perfect. . . Pero hindi na mangyayari 'yon.

Because he didn't kiss me.

We're on our way to The Villamor Hotel now. Doon kasi gagawin ang birthday celebration ko. Ayaw ko nga nu'ng una because seriously, who celebrates their nineteenth birthday like this? Hindi naman na siguro kailangan ng ganito kalaking celebration since hindi naman 'to debut. And also, alam ko namang halos lahat ng pupunta ay business partners ni Mom. Most of them, hindi ko naman kilala.

Ang plano ko lang talaga this year is to celebrate my birthday with Mom and Keith's family kasama na rin si Jorgina, my best friend. pero nag-insist si Mom.

"Tanya," I heard Keith called me. "Jorgina's here." He informed me. Binati naman agad ako ni Jorgina na nakasunod kay Keith.

"Tanyaaa! Happy Birthday! Uy, sorry na agad. Hindi ko muna dinala ang gift ko for you. Nahihiya ako, e. Ang bongga nung ibang gifts sa'yo." She said.

"You should've brought it anyway." Sabi ko naman kay Jorgina. "I know that that would be the best gift kasi alam kong you're the one who made it."

Jorgina's not rich. She's an S.A. kaya siya nakakapag-aral sa Brickwood. Everytime na may special occasion, instead of buying me gifts, ginagawan niya na lang ako. But I don't mind. She's always so genuine. Hindi tulad ng karamihan sa Brickwood. Puro plastic.
