Discipline is the only example of saintly,
Enlightenment is external validation,
Examples of people whose elders are proud of them,
But that's the biggest lie you've ever heard.

Their parents also compare them
with people; people, who are compared as well,
The never-ending cycle of never being good enough,
Is the only story to tell.

Society's double standards,
They kill what they hold on pedestals,
Like we are supposed to be Jesus,
A Jesus without a church,
Honey, that doesn't work!

They tell the birds to soar high,
While tying their wings from behind
And on not succeeding,
It's all the bird's fault.

And that's what we normalize,
No wonder we're all terrified!
Equally traumatized to fail,
But we do not have a say, hell!
Piercing our throats is the same cynical knife,
Year 6 to 18, we wake up to this,
Thanking You,
Yours obediently,
A Student's Life.
