The marriage of General Haoran became the talk of the town. It wasn't just some marriage, it was THE marriage that would end the blood feud of over five decades.

Vendors, beggars, elders, children— Everybody was equally excited about the prospect of their lonely General getting married. Even the elitists, who generally pretended not to be interested in the affairs of the other nobles, were now openly expressing their thrill regarding the matter.

It was true that the General had been a loner for the 27 lunar years since his birth. He enlisted in the army at the very early age of 12 and had ever since been entangled with blood and flesh with no time for relationships.

"Marriage, huh?" General Haoran whispered.

At some point, he even thought he'd remain unmarried till his death and maintain celibacy. Flesh and sex no longer induced passion in him, and only reminded him of the blood on the battlefield.

And now that he was finally about to get married, he was slightly curious. "Head maid, don't you really have a portrait of the partner?" he asked. "Of course we do," the head maid answered.

"Then can I–"

"No, your grace." She waved her hands in anger as she rebuked, "It's absolutely preposterous and inauspicious that the partners see each other before the marriage!"

He duly dropped the subject of the portrait. It didn't matter; even if they were as ugly as a rotten potato, he'd still marry them. That was what he had originally decided anyway.

After that, he never bothered with the extraneous affairs behind his marriage, including his partner's background, until he came across something shocking after about 3 days. The marriage law of the Empire of the Blazing Sun was such that one would get married into the household of the other—even if they were husbands. Therefore, when he was looking up the name of his potential partner to enter into his family registry, he scrunched his brows.

The meaning of his partner's name was... mosquito.

His name, which was pronounced "Fu Lin" in Kanglun language, meant "Mosquito". General Haoran thought he'd made a mistake and even referred to the linguistic scroll of the standard Kanglun language, and it was still mosquito, no matter how he cross checked.

What happened for his parents to actually name him mosquito? Is it normal to name children after animals... or rather insects in the Empire of the Silver Mountain?

He didn't know, and he didn't want to know. But one thing he knew for sure, his image of his marriage partner was completely ruined now.

After that, he actively avoided any form of association with his marriage. If anybody brought up the issue of his partner or his marriage in front of him, the image of a mosquito wedding himself in red clothes would spring in his mind.

He was so angered by this thought that he began attacking his subordinates with a sparring session whenever somebody brought up his marriage in front of him.

Naturally, his comrades and subordinates in the Blazing Sun Army assumed that he was this angry about the whole issue because the other party was one of the Eastern Empire. They themselves had a hard time accepting that their beloved General was marrying a prince of the

horrible Silver Mountain but somehow pacified themselves with the fact that at least their General wouldn't be a virgin anymore. Especially his 3 Lieutenants.

"I feel so bad that he has to marry somebody from the enemy country, what if he falls ill from the stress?" said Lieutenant Shen Yue.

Lieutenant Bing Ze laughed out loud at that. "You think he's some little brat? Meanwhile, I'm thinking about whether he'd actually do it on the nuptial night." He wiggled his eyebrows at Lieutenant Jiang. "Do you think he can do it with a guy?"

Lieutenant Jiang replied expressionlessly, "The Imperial General's sex life is none of my concern."

Very soon, though, the entire capital that was rejoicing over the marriage of the General learned to shut their mouths when a certain incident happened. General Haoran was an honourable man and wouldn't touch an unarmed civilian without decorum. Therefore, when a noble from another powerful family mentioned his marriage, he directly invited the man to a duel.

Everybody knew that though a duel wouldn't cost their lives, with General Haoran it could end up costing them an arm or a leg.

Hence, it became public knowledge that the General was unhappy with this marriage, and people learned to be discreet. The chatter was no more, but they secretly decided in their hearts to cheer as badly as they wanted on the wedding day. Because to them, this was a blessed wedding of peace.

And so the fateful day arrived. General Haoran, was bathed in perfumed water and sandalwood and taken to the dressing chamber. There he was wrapped and clothed in rich red silk, the colour of the ceremonial wedding robe, and accompanied to the red pavilion of marriage.

This pavilion was specially constructed for the General and his partner, Fu Lin. There, the General was recited auspicious words by a "lucky" gentleman and bestowed the imperial blessing of marriage by the Emperor.

"Haoran." The Emperor placed his palm on the General's head while he kneeled. "Yes, Your Imperial Royal Majesty."

"You are the beacon of hope that will unite these two nations; your marriage is its love child."

At this proclamation, loud cheers echoed from all around the red pavilion as General Haoran stood up. He was accompanied to the red and gold decorated sedan with pearls and beads

flowing down its sides. The sedan procession or trip was a mandatory part of any wedding ceremony on the Kanglun continent.

The moment was here.

He could finally look at his groom.

The procession was a tiring ordeal as people crowded the path to the groom's temporary residence all the way. Due to the distance between the two empires, it was impossible to pick up the Prince of Silver Mountain from their palace directly. Hence, he was temporarily allotted a place within the Blazing Sun Empire. The sedan finally arrived at the prince's house, and an announcement was made denoting the arrival of the General.

As soon as this announcement was made, the light sound of footsteps was heard from within the house. General Haoran, with burning curiosity, opened the beaded curtain of the sedan.

A slim figure in bright red clothes was standing outside.
