Chapter 16: clash of darkins

Flashback Start

Shurima, the kingdom that ruled the deserts, the land that within a millennia will become Vacuo, a city shimmering with gold and sand

We enter the palace where we look into the training grounds, beings known as the Sunborn, golden warriors of light, heroes of Shurima, protectors of the people, and those who are brave to fight against the Void, many of them are seen training here to become stronger or learn new tricks

Joraal wasn't a great fighter, but he could still handle his own and is a great planner, his strength isn't on par with the others but he tries his best nonetheless

Joraal landed on the floor, face first as he groaned in pain, he looked up and sees a hand reaching out for him

The person was a Sunborn, one of Joraal's allies, his ally wielded a great sword, the blade's color was blue as the sword had a golden hilt, the Sunborn wore gold and lapis lazuli armor as he had giant wings with golden platings on the top as the rest of the wings were armored by lapis lazuli, the Sunborn also wore a golden winged helm that cover his eyes, though he can still see through the helm due to the tiny holes that barely anyone could see as they were hidden and covered by a magic field so that sand wouldn't get in the way

"Good spar, friend" Joraal's comrade spoke as Joraal takes his ally's hand and gets up as two maids walk up to them with glasses of cold water in their hands, Joraal and his comrade takes the glasses and drinked it all

"Thank you sisters" Joraal said as the two maids bowed and walked away

Joraal's comrade smirked "You're getting along with those two, perhaps the sign of forgiveness?" The Sunborn spoke with a smirk as Joraal shrug it

"I forgave them long ago, though I still feel awkward towards them since they can not speak" Joraal said sounding sad

"Indeed, emperor Azir may have gone a bit too far with that punishment" Joraal's comrade replied as he pats Joraal in the back

"By the way" Joraal's comrade spoke as Joraal looked at his ally "You've became quite the inspiration for many young minds, ever thought of getting a protege to pass down your skills and wisdom onto?" Joraal's ally asks as Joraal sighed

"I.... don't know.... you know I became a Sunborn to help people right? Not fame or money brought me to this path" Joraal said

"I know, I was testing you, while the sundisc do choose those with pure hearts, it's not perfectly accurate from what I've seen, perhaps maybe if your sins aren't too sevre will you have the chance to ascend" Joraal's ally said peeking Joraal's curiousity

That's when Joraal realized "So you're telling me that some people with impurities could still become a Sunborn instead of a Baccai?" Joraal says as his comrade nodded confirming Joraal's realization

"Captain Joraal! General Aatrox!" Another Sunborn yells catching their attention as Joraal and Aatrox looked at their ally

"The voidborns are attacking the southern gates!" The Sunborn yells as they nodded

Aatrox grew wings from his back as he flies up "Friends! Gather to the southern gates!" Aatrox yells as the other Sunborns immediately headed to the southern gates, some flew their with their wings while others ran to the southern gates receiving cheers from the people as they passed by, none more than Joraal as the people see him as an inspiration as someone who refuses to give up despite the hardships he was given by his own family
